    Coventry Blaze ice hockey team is supporting the city's bid to become the UK City of Culture in 2021.

    It means the team will wear Coventry's City of Culture logo on the front of their jerseys along with images of landmarks including the three spires and the Lady Godiva statue.

    Coventry is up against, external cities including Stoke-on-Trent and Sunderland to win the title.

    Students operating a barn owl nesting box project at Warwick's Moreton Morrell College have successfully hatched three barn owl chicks.

    The students built the boxes which were then installed in college grounds in May.

    A mum from Warwickshire says schools in the county are already "full to bursting".

    Shelley Duffy, whose children attend a school in Rugby, has reacted to figures from the Local Government Association, external which suggest the county will be short of more than 1,800 places in five years' time.

    The organisation is calling for action to be taken now in a bid to reduce the shortfall.

    Extra bin collections will take place in Coventry over the weekend due to delays in regular pick-ups.

    Collections in a number of areas are running one or two days late due to staff shortages and the city council says it will need to work over the weekend to clear the backlog.

    Vincenti joined the club's ranks over the summer and insists his side won't take the opposition "lightly".

  19. County fire service 'welcomes' new recruitspublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

    Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, external has welcomed 29 new recruits as part of the first major recruitment campaign carried out in the county for more than nine years.

    The drive was launched in April and attracted more than 700 applications.

    The new recruits attend their first induction session today.
