    Tim Ambrose hit his first century of the season but it couldn't stop his side being beaten as they were bowled out for 344 on day four.

    Lancashire then knocked off the runs on 42-2 to win by eight wickets.

    With just four games left, bottom side Warwickshire are adrift of safety, now 38 points behind Middlesex, whose game against Surrey was abandoned at The Oval.

    Coventry City goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook has agreed a transfer, external to Swindon Town.

    The 23-year-old - who signed for the Sky Blues in 2014 - joins the County Ground side on a permanent deal.

    He made more than 50 appearances for Coventry during his time at the club.

    Officers have confirmed that a motorcyclist died after crashing with other vehicles at 05:40 near the BP garage.

    The road has only just reopened.

    Officers investigating the crash would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it.

    Traffic held on the M6 southbound between M6 Toll and J3 for Coventry following an oil spillage has been released, Highways England says.

    An operation to clean up the spillage, which was caused by a crash, means one lane is currently closed and causing delays.

    A man has been sentenced to six years and seven months in prison, external for robbing a shop in Warwick.

    Philip Mark Tedstone, 53, of no fixed abode, entered Warwick Lighting on Smith Street on July 28 armed with an imitation firearm and then forced a woman to open the till before leaving with a quantity of cash.

    Officers arrested him in Warwick four days later.

    Tedstone pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

    Five men entered a home armed with hammers and a crowbar before demanding money, police say.

    it happened on Tuesday night at a house near Kingsbury Hall in north Warwickshire.

    One of the offenders hit an occupant - a man in his 40s - with a broom handle before escaping with cash and a mobile phone.

    Highways England says a recovery operation is continuing after a crash on the M6 this morning left a lorry on its side.
