    Warwickshire County Council has responded to figures - from the Local Government Association - which suggest there will be a shortfall in school places in the county in five years' time.

    The organisation's data shows there will be more than 1,800 too few places in Warwickshire by 2022.

    But the council insists its plans for provision of school places are robust.

    A 44-year-old man has died, external after a crash on the Warwickshire border with Northamptonshire.

    The biker collided with a car and a lorry near the BP service station at Lilbourne early yesterday morning.

    The road was closed for hours after the crash.

    St John Ambulance says a £1,700 donation is allowing it to charge less for first aid courses.

    The money - raised by the City of Coventry Freemen's Guild - means that participants will only be charged £10 for five courses rather than the usual £30.

    A former Warwickshire Police officer has been charged with 19 historical sex offences.

    Timothy Lively, 58, of Bidford-upon-Avon was charged on Thursday with offences allegedly carried out in the 1970s and 1980s in Stratford-upon-Avon.

    He will appear at Warwick Magistrates' Court on 27 September.

    A crew was called to the blaze in Duckham Court at about 20:20.

    Officers took just over two hours to extinguish it.

  13. Council out of pocket over bridge's tractor smashpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

    Warwickshire County Council has still not recovered the £388,000 pounds it spent on repairing the historic Bidford bridge - two years after it was hit by a tractor.

    The bridge was shut for six months while repairs were made but the authority still hasn't been able to recoup the money from the insurance company with which it's dealing.

    The council insists claims take time to process.

    Coventry Rugby says eight summer signings will start against Hull Lonians in their National League One clash tomorrow.
