    • Ironville and Codnor Park Primary School is now closed

    Four people taken to hospital after an explosion on Hinckley Road on Sunday night have been discharged from the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

    A fifth person who was in hospital with life-threatening injuries is now in a critical but stable condition.

    Leicestershire Police say a search and recovery operation is continuing today at Hinckley Road which remains closed.

    A World War One centenary walking trail will provide a unique opportunity to explore Melton Mowbray's World War One history. The town has a rich heritage, and the walk will take the visitor around buildings and landmarks that have a connection to the Great War.

    The trail is not for just the people of Melton, but also visitors to the town and for schools in the district for their project work. It is an A3 sized map that can be folded and put in your pocket or handbag. It will cost £1 with proceeds going back into the community via the Rotary Club community projects.

    • Wirksworth Infant School will be closing at 13:00
    • Taddington and Priestcliffe Primary School is now closed
    • Wirksworth Church of England Infant School closed at 12:30
    • Speedwell Infant School in Staveley is closed
    • Belper School and Sixth Form Centre is closing early

  8. A1 closed after 'multi-vehicle crash'published at 12:41 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2018

    The A1 is closed in both directions between the A57/A614 and B6387 in Nottinghamshire because of a multi-vehicle crash with long delays in both directions, says Highways England.

    On other roads:

    • The A1 northbound has been closed about three miles north of Alnwick due to a three-lorry collision, external
    • There are major problems on both the M1 and A1(M) in South Yorkshire
    • The A11 in between Thetford and Norwich is nearly cleared and work is under way to also clear the A47
    • The A12 in Norfolk is closed southbound between the B1370 and B1375 due to a multi vehicle collision.
    • A lane is closed on the M62 (pictured) in West Yorkshire between J30 and J31 near Castleford following a van fire

    The road is closed southbound from the Retford junction due to a "multiple car collision". Injuries are believed to be minor.

    Police have arrested four people in connection with the murder of a teenager in Nottingham.

    Lyrico Steede was stabbed in Bulwell at around 19:30 on Tuesday 13 February. The 17-year-old died in hospital six days later.

    Two 17-year-old boys and an 18-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

    A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

    The chairman of Mansfield Town Supporters Association says he's "in shock" after the surprise resignation of manager Steve Evans and assistant Paul Rayner yesterday evening.

    Dean Foulkes described it as a "bolt from the blue" and added: "It's the morning after and honestly I am still stunned they've decided to go to be honest...you go through all sorts of emotions."

    Evans had been in charge for 15 months and took the Stags to fifth in the League Two table, just two points outside of the automatic promotion places at the time of his resignation.

    The club have confirmed that they are looking for a replacement already. Chairman John Radford said: "Whilst I am disappointed by the decision, there are no individuals bigger than Mansfield Town Football Club...the vacant post of manager is surely one of the most attractive in the Football League."

    Derbyshire police said one of their officers was hit by a car, external in the early hours of this morning as he tried to stop suspected thieves.

    The officer - who did not suffer serious injuries - was called to Wragley Way in Sinfin after reports of two men acting suspiciously.

    On arrival, police saw one man running away - it was then that a car hit an officer and drove off.

    Following this, more units were sent to the area and a 30-year old man from Nottingham was arrested nearby on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

    A West Bridgford man diagnosed with prostate cancer is backing calls from the actor and comedian Stephen Fry for men to ask their GP for the blood test which can help pick it up.

    Stephen Fry revealed last week he's had surgery to remove his prostate and urged men to have the PSA blood test.

    It's available for over 50s, but only if they ask for it.

    Tim Kirby has been having the test for more than a decade and it's recently helped flag up that he has prostate cancer.

    He said: "The message has got to be, see your GP and ask for the test...a lot of men think they know their body and how they feel...but you don't know you're carrying prostate cancer, you've no idea at all."

    Derby terrorist Munir Mohammed has had his jail term increased to a minimum of 21 years for plotting a bomb of ricin attack in the UK.

    The Sudanese asylum seeker had pledged to carry out a "lone wolf" mission in communications with an IS commander.

    Last week, Mohammed, 37, of Leopold Street, Derby, and mother-of-two Rowaida El-Hassan, 33, of Willesden Lane, north-west London, were jailed for preparing terrorist acts between November 2015 and December 2016.

    Judge Michael Topolski QC sentenced Mohammed to life with a minimum term of 14 years.

    The case returned to the Old Bailey under the "slip rule" to alter the sentence for Mohammed.

    Raising the minimum term to 21 years, Judge Topolski apologised for making an error in calculating the sentence.
