    Another batch of schools have been confirmed closed today by Derbyshire County Council, external:

    • Heritage High School
    • Winster C of E Primary School
    • Killamarsh Infant and Nursery School
    • Poolsbrook Primary School

    Meanwhile Gorseybrigg Primary School will open but not until 10:00.

    It's bitterly cold today and the Met Office has issued yellow and amber warnings for snow in parts of the East Midlands.

    Derbyshire County Council has said that over the last 12 hours, more than 69 routes throughout the county have been gritted.

    The council's gritting map, external shows that main roads between Bakewell, Matlock, Ashbourne, Chesterfield and Belper were treated as primary locations during the evening.

    It also shows routes closed in the high peak area of the county.

    Gritting vehicles will continue to spread during the day with the cold weather expected to stay for a few days longer.

    A number of primary schools in Derbyshire have also closed due to the snow and ice - Clowne Junior School, Town End Junior School in Alfreton, and Tibshelf Infant and Nursery School.

    Darley Churchtown CE Primary School will be open from 10:00.

    Freezing conditions overnight have led to a number of routes in the High Peak area being closed.

    These include the A57 Snake Pass, A6024 Holme Moss, A53 Leek Road and A537 Cat & Fiddle.

    Derbyshire County Council said temperatures had plummeted to -9C overnight, meaning grit fails to stop working fully to melt snow and ice, external.
