    Labour have taken two seats from the Conservatives in the Ruddington ward.

    Jen Walker and Mike Gaunt were both elected, along with the incumbent Conservative Gary Dickman

    It means that Labour currently have FOUR of the seats so far declared, while the Conservatives have SIX.

    I’ve already seen MPs Keith Vaz and Liz Kendall, the current mayor and many many candidates including some old guard from 2015.

    I’m told counting is ahead of schedule and the first ward declaration will be sooner than the 14:00 estimate

    Just 58 votes separated the highest and lowest polling candidates in the Edwinstowe and Clipstone ward on Newark and Sherwood District Council.

    Labour leader Paul Peacock retained his seat, with Michael Brown and Scott Carlton winning two seats for the Conservatives from the Labour Party.

    Kate Allsop from the Mansfield Independent Forum and Labour's Andy Abrahams have gone through to the second round of the mayoral election count.

    In the first round Mr Abrahams got 6,881 votes and Kate Allsop got 5,860.

    All to play for as second votes of other three candidates are now added.

    Leader of Rutland County Council Oliver Hemsley has been re-elected to the authority.

    The Conservative councillor defeated Lib Dem candidate John Brookes to win the Langham Ward.

    The turnout was 37% and the count is taking place at The Victoria Hall in Oakham. Eight councillors have already made it on to the council after being uncontested.

    The ruling Conservative Party had five of the uncontested seats and so needs a further nine today to keep control of the authority.
