    It looks like the notorious Rufford Ford has claimed another victim.

    Rufford Ford Action Group spotted this delivery van "trapped" on the Nottinghamshire road which is flooded by heavy rain.

    Fire fighters are regularly called to rescue cars stuck there when the water levels are high.

    A number of roads across north Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire are shut today because of the flooding.

    A "major incident" has been declared in Worksop, a councillor has told the BBC.

    Councillor Simon Greaves, of Bassetlaw District Council, said emergency services have responded "excellently" to the flooding in the town, which has seen 25 homes evacuated.

    "The authority has opened its leisure centre in Worksop as basically, an evacuation point for people to stay safe, warm and dry," he said.

    "Flooding is more than just the town centre though - there is an estate further to the north that has been heavily flooded also."

    Mr Greaves added some residents were taken by boat to the leisure centre.

    The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for sections of the River Wreake near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

    The warnings are for Frisby, Hoby, Thrussington and Ratcliffe.

    River levels have risen at the Frisby river gauge as a result of "persistent heavy rainfall" the agency said.

    In some areas river levels "are falling, but still pose a flood risk".

    The agency added areas most at risk are Frisby-on-the-Wreake, including Water Lane at Frisby, and Broome Lane at Ratcliffe-on-the-Wreake.

    Also Thrussington Mill, including Station Road, and isolated properties at Hoby.

    It expects river levels to remain high during the day.

    This was the moment part of a cliff at Berry Hill Quarry gave way, burying gardens in mud and forcing dozens out of their homes.

    A total of 35 homes were evacuated in Mansfield last night.

    Evacuee Natalie Palmer said: "We realised the cliff was coming down and for a moment it looked like it was all going to come down. We were really worried."

    No injuries have been reported and residents have been offered emergency accommodation.

    Derbyshire Dales District Council has declared an "emergency" following floods in Matlock and Matlock Bath.

    It warned there are "deep floods" of about four feet along the A6 with vehicles stuck at a number of points.

    Council officers were out putting up sandbags this morning and have already got through seven tonnes of them.

    The Environment Agency is warning the River Derwent in Derby is about to pass the point where homes could be flooded.

    It is expected to reach its peak at 20:00.

    Earlier the Nottinghamshire Police control room told BBC Radio Nottingham 300 homes in Worksop were evacuated due to flooding.

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has since clarified hundreds of properties were contacted to ensure residents were safe and well, but only 25 homes were evacuated.

    Damien West, of the fire service, added 65 others were offered the chance to move, but chose to stay put.

    As you may have read already, hundreds spent the night at the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield after downpours flooded the city's streets.

    Luke Turner, from Chesterfield, who works at a restaurant there, said he was unable to drive home after his shift, so he bedded down in the stockroom where he said he could use "aprons" as a pillow.

    Sixth form student Rosie De Roeck, 16, from Kirkby-in-Ashfield, spent about nine hours in the centre with her friend before her mum managed to rescue her at shortly before 01:00.

    It was "horrible" and "quite scary", she said, adding Primark stayed open late, with her and many others buying pyjamas after getting wet in the rain.

    She said coffee chain Starbucks gave out free cookies and a man who was also stranded shared a box of crisps he had bought.

    Killamarsh Junior School in Derbyshire will be closed this morning because of flooding in the boiler room.

    The flooding began yesterday, but the school managed to remain open by turning the heating off mid-morning.

    Flooding has extended downstream to Matlock and Matlock Bath, Derbyshire Dales District Council has said.

    "Our team of volunteer workers report that the appropriately-named Sunken Gardens are completely under water," the council added.

    There is also deep flooding along the A6 with some road closures, while the river in Matlock Bath is "dangerously high" - less than three feet off the bottom of Jubilee Bridge.

    We will be bringing you the latest updates as parts of the country were hit with traffic chaos and road closures on Thursday.

    Last night, 35 homes were evacuated in Mansfield after a mudslide in the area (below), while hundreds of people spent the night in a shopping centre in Sheffield after torrential downpours flooded the city's streets.
