    BBC Radio Derby

People who live or socialise in Ilkeston have been told to get tested if they have Covid-19 symptoms after four people who visited some of the town's pubs tested positive for the virus.

Derbyshire County Council said the people visited pubs in the town on either 31 July or 1 August.

The authority said each visited at least one of three pubs around Ilkeston's Market Place: The Market Inn, The Observatory and The Harrow.

The council said steps had been taken by all three venues to carry out extra cleaning, restrict customer numbers and collect details for the NHS Test and Trace programme.

But despite their best efforts, the council said Public Health England found "a significant number" of customers had left "incomplete or illegible details".

Derbyshire's director of public health Dean Wallace said people with symptoms should self-isolate and book a test as soon as possible.

He added the cases show it is "essential that anyone visiting pubs, cafes, restaurants and other outlets gives accurate contact details so that they can be traced".

Officers said this type of call can be linked to courier fraud, where victims are told to take money from their bank account or give bank cards to a courier.

A spokesman said: "The police will never contact you asking for banking information or request that you withdraw money from an account to aid an investigation.

"Fraudsters often target geographical areas where they know elderly or vulnerable people live, so we would ask that if you have family or friends who are vulnerable in any way that you make them aware of this scam."
