    • In Ilfracombe, there are hazardous driving conditions reported on the A361 near the Mullacott Cross roundabout due to snow and ice
    • In Exeter, Topsham Road is closed between Burnthouse Lane and Countess Wear due to an earlier burst water main and repair work. Diversions are in place and access to the crematorium is from the city end of the road

    Fire crews have put out a blaze in a garage in Cornwall.

    Firefighters were called to reports of a shed fire at about 19:00 on Tuesday, in Old Church Road, Mawnan, which was found to be a detached garage which was well alight

    Falmouth Fire Station tweeted, external that it was a "busy start" to its Blue Watch shift.

    A yellow warning for snow, external is in place from the Met Office for Cornwall and parts of the north and south coasts of Devon.

    Snow has been reported in north Devon and the far west of Cornwall, with heavy snow showers also predicted in other parts of the counties later.

    The Met Office said the warning meant there was potential for travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers, as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.

    Some rural communities could become cut off, it added, with power cuts also possibly occurring and other services, such as mobile phones, affected.

    As Devon highways bosses say roads are being gritted but cars are needed "to mix in the salt", police have also warned motorists to take care when driving on icy roads and in any snow.

    Devon and Cornwall Police tweeted, external: "Consider the conditions and allow extra time for your journey today."

    Commuters in Exeter are facing a third day of disruption after a water main burst.

    Topsham Road will be closed until 17:00 today after attempts to reopen it for Wednesday morning were hindered by a gas leak.

    Wales & West Utilities said it received reports of the leak last night and was working to repair it as fast as possible. South West Water is working to fix the water pipe.

    Freezing conditions have complicated the repairs.

    Snow has been reported in north Devon and the far west of Cornwall, with it also predicted in other parts of the counties today and tomorrow.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow for Cornwall and parts of the north and south coasts of Devon, external. An amber warning is in place for Thursday with the potential for heavy snowfall alongside strong winds.

    It's warning roads could become blocked with stranded vehicles and passengers, and there's a small chance of power cuts.

    Contingency plans are in place as snow and strong winds are expected to move into Cornwall.

    Schools and colleges especially in the west could be affected this morning, and harbour authorities are battening down the hatches.

    In Falmouth, the harbour authority said the weather could pose some problems particularly for its pilot service, so contingency plans were in place to keep it running if staff could not make it to the port.

    The harbour master said staff were speaking to large vessels in the area to warn them of expected very strong easterly winds. Vessels are also being secured and salt spread on walkways.

    The head of a Devon homeless charity has called the recent "fake homeless" campaign in Torquay "divisive and dangerous".

    Speaking on BBC Radio 4's PM show, John Hamblin, CEO of Shekinah, external, said that Ashley Sims' project, which involves photographing so-called professional beggars and posting their photos online, was "outrageous and shameful".

    He said: "I'm not saying there isn't a problem with begging, but there's an appropriate way of dealing with it - what you don't do is start naming and shaming - it all feels very vigilante-like."

    Mr Sims however defended his actions. He said: "If you walk through the streets of Torquay now, there's less people on the streets than there were when I started 11 days ago."

    Torbay Council, external reported finding 24 people sleeping rough in autumn 2017, twice the national average for England.

    The manager of Concord Rangers says the team's not travelling to Cornwall to play Truro City because of weather concerns is a "sensible decision".

    The Beach Boys have pulled out of their National League South tie tonight due to the forecast snowy and icy weather.

    It's the second time the fixture has been postponed after it was called off last month due to a waterlogged pitch.

    City boss Pete Masters has criticised the decision.

    The Canvey Island team's manager, Antony Smith, told the Canvey Echo, external that the "safety of both sets of players, staff and fans getting to and from the game has to be the priority".
