Bude nature reserve receives £55,000 conservation boostpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 19 April 2018
A project to extend and restore a nature reserve in Bude will be stepped up thanks to a £55,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, external.
Greena Moor is one of just a few fragments of "Culm grassland" remaining in England, and was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1992.
The new funding will be used by conservation charity Plantlife, external to extend the nature reserve by 46 acres.
Greena Moor is home to six "threatened" species of wild plant, and the project aims to reintroduce the lesser butterfly orchid (pictured below), which hasn't been seen in the area for more than a decade.
