  1. Train derailment update: Two hurt between Kings Langley and Watford Junctionpublished at 10:17 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Two people were hurt when a train derailed near Watford Junction after torrential rain caused a landslide. The 06:19 BST service from Milton Keynes to Euston left the track at about 07:00 BST, Network Rail said.

    A man was treated for a neck injury and a woman treated for chest pains.

    Trains and roads across the county have been severely affected by flooding last night. Here are some additional reports that have just come in:

    • Hitchcock Way in Didcot is closed both directions due to flooding between Orchard Centre traffic lights and Didcot Parkway
    • The fire service is currently trying to pump out water from Didcot's railway station, which has been closed all morning

  8. Firefighters tackling flooding across Oxfordshirepublished at 09:41 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Oxfordshire County Council's fire and rescue service has dealt with a spate of calls since 04:00 linked to the heavy rain overnight.

    Areas affected by flash flooding include Didcot, Goring, Wallingford, Cholsey, South Stoke and East Hagbourne.

    Firefighters attended Wallingford Community Hospital where some parts of the buildings were affected by flooding.

    They have also been working to protect some properties from waters on Station Road in Cholsey.

    Group Manager Gary Coupar said: "We’ve had to deal with a number of instances of cars becoming stranded as a result of trying to drive through floodwater. People should avoid doing this.

    “If the electrics in your home are being affected by floodwater please turn off the electricity”

    It looks like there may be a break in the rain. Torrential downpours have been causing disruption across much of the region.

    These are set to gradually ease away to the east during the day. Sunny spells will follow in western parts.

    A train derailed near Watford Junction after torrential rain caused a landslide, Network Rail has confirmed.

    No-one was injured when the 06:19 BST service from Milton Keynes to Euston left the track, London Midland said.

    A portion of the train derailed at about 07:00 and was then hit by another train. It was a "glancing blow" and the other train continued on its way.

    Firefighters have returned to a house in Christchurch that was struck by lightning last night.

    Fire destroyed part of the roof and crews have returned to the property to ensure it is safe.

    Kim in Didcot says her mum’s house in Bridge close, Didcot, has been flooded and the whole downstairs is ruined.

    • One lane on the M4 is still closed as fire services work to pump water off the road westbound at J8 around Maidenhead
    • A33 between Reading and Basingstoke is closed at Chingham due to severe flooding
    • Sandford Lane in Woodley is not passable due to flooding
    • High Street in Maidenhead is closed for the foreseeable future
    • Newbury Station is still closed and there are delays of 30 minutes across the Great Western Railway network
    • South West Trains are delayed around Windsor and between Ascot and Guildford
