    Leigh Road in Wimborne remains blocked because of flooding near Greenclose Lane and the BP Garage.

    In Bournemouth, Gervis Road is flooded but we're told you can just about get through.

    South West Trains services through Dorchester South are running at a reduced speed and could be delayed by up to 15 minutes because of some wet weather damage to a level crossing overnight. Disruption is expected until 11:00.

    Lightning is believed to be the cause of a fire which severely damaged a house in Christchurch in the early hours.

    Six crews were called to tackle the blaze in Cross Way.

    Torrential rain is causing major disruption across the county's roads, there's a lot of standing water so do take care. Here's our latest updates:

    • Delays of 2hrs 40mins on the M40 London bound. There's stationary traffic between J6 Lewknor and J4 High Wycombe. One lane is currently closed
    • The A34 is partially blocked at the Graces Lane junction in Chieveley due to flooding
    • Traffic lights are not working on the A34 at J13 aroudn the M4 Chieveley and Newbury
    • Two lanes are closed on the M4 westbound between J12 at Theale and J13 at the A34
    • The B4027 from Elsfield to Wheatley has lots of standing water, especially around Forest Hill

    A caller into BBC Oxford has said fire crews have had to be called to the maternity unit at Wallingford Community Hospital due to flooding. 

    The hospital has refused to comment.

    National Rail has reported severe delays and cancellations across the network in the south of England. 

    All major updates are available on the website, external, but here is a summary.

    • Woking to London Waterloo line: Trains are delayed by 30 minutes
    • Basingstoke to Woking line: Some services from London Waterloo will not call at Brookwood
    • Guildford to Ascot line: Trains delayed by 30 minutes
    • Reading to London Paddington line: Trains are delayed by 15 minutes after lightning damaged signalling equipment near Slough
    • Reading to Westbury line: Trains delayed by 30 minutes
    • Didcot Parkway station: All trains are expected to be delayed or cancelled

  18. Homes hit by storm power cutspublished at 07:11 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    More than 1,000 homes are without power across Hampshire and Dorset this morning after thunderstorms overnight. 

    Areas affected include in Purbeck, the New Forest and villages north of Winchester. 

    Scottish and Southern Electricity, external said it's not yet clear whether it's overhead power cables which have fallen but is highly likely linked to the overnight storms.
