    All Saints Primary school in Didcot is cut off by flood water, and so is currently closed. A decision whether to open the school will be made at 11:00, its headmaster, John Myers told us. Parents are asked to check the school website then for an update.

  10. Dorset Police receive 11 calls of flash flooding and lightning across the countypublished at 08:39 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    There were 11 reported cases of flash flooding and lightning strikes to police and emergency services in Dorset overnight. 

    Calls included:

    • Reports of lightning striking the chimney of a house in Mount Road, Bournemouth
    • Issues on the A338 after Cooper Dean roundabout became flooded, leading to four cars becoming trapped
    • Flood water allegedly entered houses in Eldon Terrace, Swanage

    There are queues and closures across the road networks in Hampshire and Dorset due to heavy rainfall last night. Here's a summary of what we know at 08:35 BST. 

    • Average delays of 15 minutes across the South West Trains network this morning through Dorchester South. Wet weather affected a level crossing
    • There are two-mile queues eastbound on the A35 at the approach of the Shell Garage roundabout near Bere Regis and then towards Bloxworth
    • Gervis Road in Bournemouth is flooded, but callers have said it is shallow enough to drive through slowly

    Breaking

    The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert, external for the Ginge Brook, which affects the Steventon area down to and including Sutton Courtenay.

    The agency warns low lying land and roads will be affected first and a spokesman said people should "be prepared".

    A spokesman for Didcot Parkway has urged people to check GWR's website before they travel because access to the platforms is completely blocked.

    He said trains are still able to arrive so passengers are being diverted via Swindon and added that at present the situation is an "absolute nightmare".
