    It's the last day of a knife amnesty at police stations in Worcester, Hereford, Redditch and Kidderminster.

    The surrendered weapons, left in special bins, are to be turned into a giant memorial sculpture to honour those who've been killed by knives.

    A baby girl born with no heartbeat was put into total body hypothermia to save her live.  

    Willow Rose Forrest didn't have a heart beat for the first eight minutes of her life. 

    Her parents, Bex and Martin, tell how a specialist team from Bristol, then delivered a revolutionary treatment that cooled her body to prevent brain damage.

    Today, the waiting was finally over for thousands of A-level students and their families across the West Midlands, who learned their results.

    Overall the pass rate for the region was slightly down on last year, although 97.9% of students still passed with an A* to E grade. 

    We'll be looking at the help now being given to students through clearing at universities and how it's been an emotional day for so many, on Midlands Today from 18:30 on BBC One.

    One of the top jobs at the trust that runs Worcetershire’s hospitals has been filled. 

    Caragh Merrick has been appointed as the new chair of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. 

    She arrives at a critical time for the organisation. 

    The trust was placed into special measures after being rated inadequate in an inspection last year, and is running a budget deficit of tens of millions of pounds a year.

  14. Iraq War crowd funding appeal raises £160kpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 18 August 2016

    A crowd funding appeal by a Worcestershire campaigner has raised £160,000 in month, which he says he will use to hire lawyers to investigate Tony Blair's conduct relating to the Iraq War.

    Reg Keys, whose son died in the conflict, says lawyers will now begin examining the Chilcot Report, external to see if there's enough evidence to bring a civil prosecution against the former prime minister.

  16. A-level results: 85% of Worcestershire students get 3 A-levelspublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 18 August 2016

    Initial figures show that 85% of students at schools in Worcestershire (excluding colleges and sixth form colleges) achieved three or more A* to E grades, the county council says.

    Nationally, the proportion of A* and A grades was 25.8%, down by 0.1% on last year. 

    The pass rate of 98.1% remained the same.

    Part of the River Teme has become so dry the Environment Agency has had to rescue over 100 salmon and more than 25 trout.

    The fish have been moved downstream, beyond the point where the Teme merges with the River Clun.

    A similar operation, to rescue more than 100 fish, took place last month.

  19. Pensioner sentenced for sexual assault on trainpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 18 August 2016

    An 80-year-old man has been given a 12-month community order after admitting sexually assaulting a young man on a train between Worcester and Hereford.

    Derek Arthur Worthington, of Bodenham Road, Hereford, committed the offence on 24 September.

    He was sentenced at Hereford Magistrates' Court earlier this month.
