  2. Dummy eggs helping reduce seagull numbers says councilpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 18 August 2016

The number of breeding pairs of gulls in Worcester is dropping thanks to their programme of replacing their eggs with convincing dummies, says the city council.

A woman who started a petition calling for more to be done to reduce the number of gulls in the city says the council isn't doing enough to stop people being dive-bombed by the birds in the street.

The council says the latest figures show the number of breeding pairs in Worcester went down from 201 in 2014 to 181 last year.

  6. Fresh hope for woman in coma after motorway crashpublished at 09:49 British Summer Time 18 August 2016

A Herefordshire law graduate, who was in a coma for 19 days after sustaining horrific injuries in a car crash, has spoken her first words.

Sam Hemming, 22, received a serious head injury in the crash on the M6 in July and broke four bones in her neck, had three open fractures on her arm, as well as having internal bleeding.

Her friend Aimee Boyd has set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money towards specialist equipment to care for Sam, who she says has beaten the odds to speak again.

    Quote Message

She actually spoke, which is massive because her parents were told she would never speak again. The nurse said good morning and she said 'yes', and she asked if she was in any pain and she said 'no', which is really great because it shows she knows who she is and is using words which are conscious responses."

  7. Campaigner claims dive-bombing seagull problem with get worsepublished at 09:33 British Summer Time 18 August 2016

A Worcester woman who's campaigning for more to be done to tackle the city's seagull numbers says the increase in outdoor eating areas has made the problem much worse.

    Seagulls

The latest figures show the number of breeding pairs in Worcester went down from 201 in 2014 to 181 last year.

    Quote Message

People should be able to sit outside and eat. I think the problem started with fast food and people eating on the street and now the seagulls just dive bomb people in the street. I can see the problem getting worse as the years go by."
