  1. Taster Death: West Mercia PCC says important to hold police to accountpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion says he will make sure the police are held to account if needed over the death of a man after being Tasered by officers.

    Police were called to Telford in the early hours of this morning to an incident involving a 48-year-old man. He died shortly after arriving at hospital.

    Mr Campion said an independent investigation is now under way with the Independent Police Complaints Commission and his thoughts are with the man's family.

    Work is due to start today on a new leisure centre for Bromsgrove. 

    It's being built next to the Dolphin Centre on School Drive with plans for two swimming pools, a climbing wall and a gym. , external

    The centre is the latest redevelopment under a town centre partnership scheme to regenerate the town.   

  3. Hereford GP due before tribunal for misconduct chargespublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    A GP from Hereford is due before a tribunal in Manchester today, external to face charges of misconduct. 

    Dr Christopher Allen is accused of providing medical care to a patient who wasn't registered at his surgery, Fownhope Medical Centre.

    Dr Allen is also accused of keeping blood test results secret and not communicating with the patient's own GP. 

    He's also accused of issuing a prescription in his wife's name for a patient. 

    The tribunal is listed for eight days.

    The West Mercia force has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission following the death of a man in Telford - after he was Tasered by police. 

    Officers were responding to a call out in the early hours of this morning after a report for the concern for the safety of an individual.

    Upon arrival police tasered a 48-year-old man who subsequently received medical attention but died. 

  6. Droitwich canal death funeral takes place todaypublished at 10:15 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    The funeral of Allen Green who died after his boat sank in the Droitwich canal takes place today. 

    Allen was killed last month after his tiller became jammed between lock doors.

    The service will be held at Worcester Crematorium at 15:15 this afternoon.

  7. Worcestershire grandmother left on hospital trolley for 12 hourspublished at 09:56 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    The family of a 85-year-old grandmother are furious she was left on a trolley in a hospital corridor for 12 hours. 

    Barbara Sunpter was taken to the Worcestershire Royal with a broken shoulder and severe bruising after she fell while gardening.

    Her daughter, Laura Webb, said another patient left on a trolley died in front of her mother while she was waiting to be admitted to a ward. 

    Despite our requests, Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust has failed to comment.

    Tom Fell heads Worcestershire's fightback after Will Bragg and Mark Wallace ensured a Glamorgan first-innings lead.

    Worcestershire finished day two on 150-2, 33 ahead with eight wickets in hand, despite Glamorgan enjoying a 117-run first-innings lead at New Road.
