    - A new training centre which allows emergency service workers to experience a lifelike terrorism incident is opening in Hereford

    - A Worcestershire woman who's celebrated her 110th birthday puts her long life down to a nip of whisky at bedtime

  2. Train lines disrupted after derailmentpublished at 08:32 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    A train has derailed near Watford Junction, causing delays on lines across the Midlands. 

    It is the 06:19 service from Milton Keynes to Euston, London. No injuries have been reported

    Disruption to London Midland and Virgin services, from the Midlands into Euston, is expected.

  8. Paralympics: Wheelchair basketball team lose in the semi-finalpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

    The GB women's wheelchair basketball team have lost to the USA in their Paralympic semi-final.

    The team, who are based at the University of Worcester, lost 89-78, and will now compete for a bronze medal.

    Most of the roads will be closed for 08:00 with almost all being reopened by 12:00.

    Grandstand Road will be closed from 05:00 until 15:00.

    There are severe delays on the M5 north of Worcester after three separate accidents.

    There have been crashes northbound between J10 (Gloucester) and J9 (A46) and between J9 and J8 (M50).

    There's been an accident southbound between J8 and J9.

    A World Cup-winning rugby player has issued a statement after her confidential medical records were leaked online by Russian hackers.

    Heather Fisher, who used to play rugby for Worcester Ladies, says during her career she has needed therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs) when she needed treatment after operations or for asthma.

  16. Rugby: Seven Valkyries in England squadpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

    Seven members of the Worcester Valkyries have been named in the latest England Women Elite Player Squad, external.

    Eight of the 12-player Team GB Olympic squad will return to the team as England Women bid to retain the Women's World Cup which kicks off in Ireland in August 2017.

  17. Survival in 'the harshest environment on the planet'published at 15:45 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

    A Hereford man will be leading a team of Army reservists in a three-month expedition to Antarctica, where they will attempt to ski over 1,100 miles (1,770km) to the South Pole, unsupported. 

    Team leader Lou Rudd will be joined by Bromsgrove Paramedic Chris Brooke and each man will be hauling an individual sledge with everything they need to survive on the ice. 

    This journey has only been completed by six people so far.

    Worcestershire's Claire Cashmore has qualified second fastest for the final of the S9 100 metres butterfly. 

    She already has a silver medal to her name.

    Also in action today are three University of Worcester students who are part of Great Britain's women's wheelchair basketball team.

    They're already the most successful British women's wheelchair basketball team in history and today play the USA in the semi-finals with the opportunity to guarantee at least a silver.
