    A teenager from Worcester, whose new puppy died within days of being picked up, is trying to stop others buying their pets online.

    Alice Bird, who's 18, bought a cockapoo from a breeder on a website - Wiggo soon became seriously ill and died from parvovirus.

    She says the breeder has now vanished.

    We reported the breeder to the RSPCA and they said they are going to look into it for us and the vet she used are going to report her to trading standards. I don't think we are going to be able to find her and get our money back, but we just want her stopped."

    The RSPCA says selling puppies is open to abuse, and wants internet advertisers to make breeders display their licence number, before they can make a sale.

    A Worcester rugby player is among five British Olympic sports stars who've had confidential health records leaked online by Russian hackers. 

    The personal details include those of rugby sevens player Heather Fisher, who used to play for Worcester Ladies, and the cyclists Chris Froome and Sir Bradley Wiggins.

  12. Hospital trust makes damages payouts of almost £10mpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 14 September 2016

    The trust that runs Worcestershire's hospitals paid out £9,955,603 in damages in the last financial year, according to the NHS Litigation Authority, external - the figure rises to more than £13.5m when costs are included.

    The authority is a not-for-profit part of the NHS which manages negligence and other claims against the NHS in England on behalf of trusts.

    It says the costs of meeting claims "are met through members’ contributions on a pay as you go basis – over time, they pay in broadly what is paid out on their behalf".

    Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said in a statement that the figures often relate to "incidents that happened several years before, and large claims could distort pay-outs".

    The trust added that any errors are "regrettable" and that it always tries to provide "the best, safest care possible".

    He was sent off in the weekend’s Aviva Premiership match between Worcester and Gloucester for allegedly striking Mariano Galarz.

    The incident occurred in the second half of the game and was referred to the television match official for review before the back row forward was red carded.
