    Two separate commercial premises in Worcester have been targeted by ram raiders overnight.

    West Mercia Police say they are investigating aggravated burglaries at commercial premises in the Windmere Drive and Blackpole Road area.

    The raids happened between 05:00 and 06:00 this morning.

    Amelia is the most popular girls name in the West Midlands while Muhammad is the most popular for boys, according to the Office for National Statistics. 

    Only London had Muhammad as the most popular choice in 2014 but the new figures show the West Midlands has joined the capital in 2015 for having the most babies with that name. Oliver was most popular overall across England and Wales.

    There were 649 Muhammads born in the West Midlands in 2015 compared with 622 Olivers. An alternative spelling - Mohammed - is also in the top 10.

    For girls regionally, the top choice, Amelia, was the same as the overall favourite in England and Wales.

    The data also shows the West Midlands to have a higher proportion of girls named Jessica than anywhere else. It ranks third for popularity in the region.

    CCTV images of two masked men who robbed a service station, external after threatening a member of staff with a crowbar have been released by the police.

    West Mercia Police say the robbery happened at Hartlebury service station in Crown Lane on Sunday at about 16:00.

    The men made off with cash and cigarettes.

    Worcester Cathedral has been given a national award recognising its role as a place of learning.

    The Sandford Award for Heritage Education has been given to other sites such as The Mary Rose Centre and Hampton Court Palace.

    The Cathedral Education Department has been running for 16 years and in that time has increased the number and range of schools and activities to well over 8,000 children and students each year.

    The judges praised staff's "capacity to enthral and captivate their audience".

    Campaigners opposing a plan to build 195 homes on the edge of Bewdley say they are worried about the extra traffic it will cause.

    Developers want to build the homes in the Bark Hill area of the town, but residents claim the roads won't be able to cope.

    The firm who want to build the houses, Gladman Developments, has declined to comment.
