    Campaigners in Hereford have drawn up plans to introduce a tram system to help ease congestion in the city. 

    A transport geographer from Ledbury, Gareth Calan Davies, believes trams running on a disused railway line could help take traffic out of the city centre.

    Mr Davies maintains the scheme would be relatively inexpensive.

    The mother of a man with autism who was made to stay in an unsuitable care home has had her complaint upheld by the Local Government Ombudsman, external.

    Tracey Angel says social workers were too busy to find better accommodation for her son Andrew, which meant his transfer was delayed by 11 months.

    Herefordshire Council have apologised for the situation and have agreed to provide further training for social workers and to pay her son £2,000 for activities or possessions he would enjoy.

    Her son, who is 22, is now in a new home and is "progressing wonderfully" she says.

    A Worcestershire mum, whose four-year-old daughter died from cancer, is spearheading a campaign that will see some of the world's most prominent landmarks be lit up gold this month to raise awareness of the disease in children. 

    Jennifer Kelly has raised nearly £100,000 since the death of her daughter Grace in 2014.

    About 200 buildings will be lit up as part of Glow Gold September, external - including the Taj Mahal and Niagara Falls, as well as local landmarks the University Arena in Worcester and Pershore Abbey.

  6. Police officer given final warning for gross misconductpublished at 08:56 British Summer Time 1 September 2016

    A West Mercia police officer has been given a final written warning for his behavior toward a junior female colleague.

    Det Sgt Peter Sherwood was accused of sending "inappropriate and unwanted" text messages, smacking her with a straw and stroking her hand.

    A disciplinary hearing found the behaviour of the officer, who was based at Worcester, had fallen "far below the standards we expect from our officers and staff".

    He was given a final written warning after being found guilty of gross misconduct.
