  8. Police reassure residents after failed abduction of girlpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 1 September 2016

    The attempted abduction of a nine-year-old on an estate in Hereford is believed to be "an isolated incident and there is not thought to be any threat to the wider community", police say.

    The girl managed to escape after being approached by a man in Saddlestone Circle (pictured) between 20:00 and 20:15 last night.

    An attempted abduction of a nine-year-old in Hereford is being investigated.

    West Mercia Police say the girl was walking along Saddlestone Circle (pictured) when she was approached from behind by a man between 20:00 and 20:15 on Wednesday.

    The girl managed to escape unharmed and speak to her mother on her mobile telephone, police say.

    Part of the Saxon Hall estate in Hereford has been cordoned off by police after reports of a failed child abduction. 

    An area around the Staddlestone Circle has been taped off, after reports of an attempted abduction last night, in which a boy is understood to have escaped.

    Four statues of people with connections to Worcester, will be officially unveiled in the Cornmarket today.

    It's part of a £500,000 revamp of that area of the city.
