    The managing director of Worcester City Council says she is leaving for another authority to be "closer to my family".

  6. Pensioner threatened with knife in attempted robberypublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    A pensioner was hit on the head and threatened with a knife, external in an attempted robbery in Kidderminster, police say.

    The 70-year-old was stopped by a youth in the underpass between Birmingham Road and Coventry Street around 19:00 on Sunday.

    The robber ran off empty-handed when challenged by two teenagers who saw the incident.

    His victim was shaken but unhurt.

  8. X-ray backlog: Watchdog plans second inspection to check on patient safetypublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    A second inspection will be carried out later this month at the trust running Worcestershire's hospitals to see if enough is being done to "protect patients from potential harm" caused by a backlog of 11,000 X-ray results.

    The health watchdog, the Care Quality Commission, ordered the trust to make "urgent improvements" following an unannouced inspection in July.

    The Chief Inspectors of Hospitals, Professor Sir Mike Richards, said the trust has submitted information to the CQC to demonstrate the progress made in clearing the backlog and their progress will be "monitored when we inspect this month".

  9. Two men sought after 'carjacking'published at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    A driver has been forced out of his car by two men, external in Barnt Green, who then drove off in the vehicle, police say.

    West Mercia Police say the man was getting into his black Volvo at about 17:30 on Tuesday when two men forced him out and drove away.

    They had previously been seen "acting suspiciously" as they walked along Twatling Road into Fiery Hill Road.

    An hour before the theft, two men tried to force their way into a woman's car as she was sitting on her driveway in Fiery Hill Road, but she had locked the door, a spokesman said.

    A Hereford woman can hear and speak again - after having a cochlear implant switched on live on television. 

    Rebecca Lyes had fallen completely deaf earlier this year, after already losing her hearing in one ear nine years ago.

    The implant was switched on live on Channel 4's Breaking the Silence programme this week, and Rebecca can now hear her son again.

    Herefordshire County Cricket Club's new chairman Richard Prime says the club has to build closer links with its supporters, as well as local clubs and players. 

    Prime was elected to the post on Monday evening and says it's clear a lot of cricket fans don't feel part of the county club and it'll be one of his main objectives to improve that situation.
