  4. Travel: Flooding disruption on the A4104published at 08:11 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2016

    There's flooding on the A4104 at the bridge in Upton-upon-Severn causing disruption. The flood gates on New Street (pictured during an earlier flood) and Waterside are also closed.

    The town is open for business though, thanks to its flood defences.

  8. Flooding: Pumps deployed in Uptonpublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2016

    Pumps were this afternoon deployed in Upton-upon-Severn following heavy rain yesterday and overnight.

    Severn Trent says it has brought in the pumps "as a precaution" after the River Severn rose more than 2m (6.5ft) in 24 hours.

    One pump has been in Waterside and another one on New Street - the Environment Agency has closed the flood gates at the same locations in the face of the rising river levels.

    The town also has a flood wall (pictured) to prevent flooding.

    Given the weather forecast, it’s possible that the pumps could be there for some time, however, due to river flooding being unpredictable, we can’t guarantee that the pumps will prevent all flooding but we hope they will make a difference for our customers."

  12. Police hunt a man who failed to appear in courtpublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2016

    A 33-year-old man from Redditch is being sought by police after he failed to appear in court.

    Iain Eccleston, from Marsden Road, was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison by the court in his absence by Redditch Magistrates Court on 30 June.

    He failed to appear to answer charges of sending articles of an indecent/offensive nature.

  16. Salmon catches the highest for 20 yearspublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2016

    Catches of Atlantic salmon on the River Wye have been the highest recorded for 20 years, according to Wye and Usk Foundation, external.

    The conservation group say anglers reported 1,665 salmon caught this year, 36% higher than 2015 and 366% better than 2002, the worst year ever for the river, when only 357 were landed.

    Over the past 20 years £9m has been invested in projects on the Wye, funded by the EU, government agencies and other organisations, fishery owners and other individuals

  17. Sewer work to prevent flash flooding completedpublished at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2016

    Work totalling £1m to improve Hereford's sewer network has been completed by Welsh Water. 

    Parts of the network in Windermere Road and Yazor Road in the Kings Acre area of the city have been upgraded. 

    The work will see the amount of surface water during heavy rain reduced with the aim of preventing floods.
