There were cancellations this morning on services between Shrewsbury and Hereford caused by the heavy rain overnight and yeasterday.
Basically, flood water can wash away ballast - the bed of stones which supports sleepers - making the line unsafe until it is re-laid.
There are two flood warnings in place in Worcestershire, both on the River Teme.

Some roads have been closed due to flooding and flood alerts have been issued for many parts of the region.
I'll be rounding up the latest on BBC One from 18:30.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for "heavy, persistent rain" across the West Midlands.
But the good news is that the weather is expected to improve in about 24 hours. In the mean time motorists are advised to be careful, with slippery conditions causing a number of crashes.

The case follows a joint investigation by the England Illegal Money Lending team (EIML), Worcestershire Regulatory Services Trading Standards and West Mercia Police.
Whyte had around 50 regular victims, often with multiple loans each, ranging from £100 to £400, and she charged 50% interest, says EIML.
