  1. John Bonham plaque: Family 'thrilled'published at 11:48 British Summer Time 15 June 2017

    The sister of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham says she is "absolutely thrilled" a blue plaque honouring him has been unveiled.

    It was put on the side of the house in Headless Cross in Redditch where he was born.

    Deborah Bonham, a singer in her own right, attended the ceremony and Bev Bevan, drummer with The Move and ELO, was also among those there.

    Goalkeeper coach Simon Phillips has agreed to join the Worcester City, external coaching team for the coming season.

    Phillips, who's 38, a former coach at youth level with Kidderminster Harriers, has been coaching goalkeepers for 20 years and working extensively in the US, where he was at clubs, colleges and universities.

  5. John Bonham plaque: 'He will never be forgotten' - Robert Plantpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 15 June 2017

    A blue plaque has been unveiled on the side of the house in Headless Cross in Redditch where John Bonham, the drummer with Led Zeppelin, was born.

    The ceremony was attended by Deborah Bonham, John's sister and a singer in her own right, and Bev Bevan, drummer with The Move and ELO.

    Robert Plant, the band's singer, who still lives in Worcestershire, sent a tribute to his former band mate, which was read out at the ceremony.

    Worcestershire County Council has been criticised for allowing a vulnerable dementia patient to be charged thousands of pounds for care she never received.

    Her treatment was investigated by the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, external.

    The ombudsman found the council failed to assess the woman's needs properly and, though she had no ability to manage her own finances, she was then charged thousands of pounds by a care home for a service it never delivered.

    After she passed away, the ombudsman found the care home wrongly chased her son for outstanding debts.

    The council says it "deeply regrets what's happened" and has agreed to pay the son £1,000, as well as refunding his mother's estate.

    Legendary drummer John Bonham will be honoured today as part of BBC Music Day.

    A blue plaque will be unveiled at his birthplace in Headley Cross in Redditch this morning live on BBC Hereford and Worcester.

    He was chosen to be honoured after listeners nominated the late musician as someone who deserved recognition.

    Having been without a permanent home since 2013, Worcester City Football Club are one step closer to getting their own ground.

  13. John Bonham plaque: Grave already a pilgrimage sitepublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 14 June 2017

    A blue plaque will be unveiled tomorrow near the birthplace in Headless Cross, Redditch, of the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham.

    It's one of 47 across the country that will honour pioneering musicians, as part of BBC Music Day.

    The drummer's grave, at Rushock in Worcestershire, is already a pilgrimage site for music fans.

    Drumsticks, cigarette lighters, dice and bottles of spirits have been left on the rock star's otherwise traditional grave.

    Bromsgrove-based Olympic cyclist Jess Varnish has said she is "relieved the truth is coming out" following a highly critical report into the way the Great Britain cycling team was run.

    Her allegations of bullying started the review into the way the team was run.

    A "culture of fear" existed within the team, according to many staff members.

    People are being reminded to fit and maintain smoke alarms and to have an escape plan in the wake of the massive blaze at a tower block in London.

    Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) says its "thoughts and sympathies are with everyone who has been affected by the tragic fire in London".
