    The legendary drummer of Led Zeppelin, John Bonham, is to be honoured with a blue plaque outside his birthplace in Redditch.

    Forty-seven plaques will be unveiled on BBC Music Day this Thursday, recognising pioneering musicians and music venues around the UK.

    A new £165m waste incinerator, which will generate power for thousands of homes in Worcestershire, is being officially unveiled today by the Duke of Gloucester.

    The EnviRecover facility, being funded by councils in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, covers eight acres of land at the Hartlebury Trading Estate near Kidderminster.

  3. Blue plaque to honour Led Zeppelin drum legendpublished at 09:09 British Summer Time 14 June 2017

    The Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham will be honoured by BBC Hereford & Worcester with a blue plaque.

    It will be unveiled tomorrow outside his birthplace in Headless Cross in Redditch.

    The drummer died in 1980 at the age of 32 and is buried at Rushock parish church in Worcestershire

    As part of BBC Music Day, 47 new blue plaques are being launched commemorating people or places that have influenced the musical landscape across the country.

  4. Homelessness project gets big lottery grantpublished at 08:49 British Summer Time 14 June 2017

    A project tackling homelessness in Worcestershire is to receive £332,000 in Big Lottery funding.

    The grant to the South Worcestershire Nightstop Mediation Service will help provide emergency accommodation to young homeless people.

    As well as somewhere to sleep, the 16 to 25-year-olds will get food and access to a shower, washing facilities and counselling.

    Morgan motor company has always been based in Malvern, buying their present factory site in 1913.

    The firm sold the land in 2006 to an investment company to fund product development and have just bought it back.

    The agents selling farms and smallholdings owned by Herefordshire Council say they expect to have had more than 1,000 viewings by the time the sale ends on 5 July.

    A public consultation has been launched by Herefordshire Council about the future use of the county's children's centres.

    There are 10 children’s centre buildings across the county which support children under the age of five and their families.

    The council is looking to reuse the buildings because of an increased need for nursery places and for school use.

    Many of the current facilities for health visitors and midwife clinics will still be available at the children centres or different locations, a spokesman said.

    Councillors will vote on whether to introduce the suggested civil penalty charges when the new Communities Committee meets for the first time on 20 June.
