  3. MP calls for halt to minor injuries unit consultationpublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    The Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart has joined a group of doctors in calling for the consultation on the future of the area's minor injuries units (MIU) to be halted. 

    Mr Stuart claims the consultation is "unfit for purpose" because it doesn't include an option to keep the MIUs open. 

    He is also calling on the East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group to hold one of the consultation drop-in sessions in the evening and not hold them all during the afternoon.

  4. Hull shooting: Statement from Police and Crime Commissionerpublished at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    The Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner says his thoughts go out to the family of the man who died after being shot by officers in Hull yesterday. 

    The 31-year-old was tasered and shot near the city centre. Police said he was carrying an axe. 

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating what happened.

  7. New route revealed for Hull Marathon 2017published at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    A new route for next year's Hull marathon, external has been announced.

    Runners taking part in next year's marathon will start and finish at the KCOM Stadium.

    The route's been changed to take in key venues for City of Culture events and landmarks including the Old Town, Victoria Dock and the Humber Bridge.

    Entries for the marathon open at 07:00 GMT tomorrow.

    Dr Hugh Wilmott is one of the archaeologists from Sheffield who uncovered a Black Death burial pit in North Lincolnshire. 

    He shows us one the 48 skeletons which were found at the site at Thornton Abbey.

    I've been to Siemens' new turbine factory in Hull to see these enormous towers being assembled.

    They measure 90 metres tall roughly the same height as the Statue of Liberty! 

    They will eventually become the towers of the huge wind turbines which generate power in the North Sea.

    But first they'll need to be transported out to sea vertically.

    Police want to speak to them in connection with an alleged theft at Waitrose in Willerby on Sunday.

    Humberside Police say around £300 worth of alcohol was taken from the shop.

    They want anyone with information to get in touch on the 101 number.

  13. Masked raider fled empty-handed from shoppublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    A masked raider has tried to rob a 24-hour shop in the early hours of Tuesday.

    The man threatened staff in the shop on Ferry Road in Scunthorpe at around 03.45 GMT.

    When the shop's alarm went off the raider fled empty-handed.

    Humberside Police said the man ran off towards Buckingham Street. 

    He was wearing dark clothing and white trainers.

    How easy is it to get about if you use a wheelchair in our area?

    A new campaign group in the East Riding says not enough is being done to make our towns wheelchair-friendly.

    The East Riding Disability Scrutiny Group says says it's very hard to get about because there aren't enough dropped kerbs and the pavements are poorly laid out.

    East Riding of Yorkshire Council says it's got its own disability advisory group and does listen to it.

    Another big name in comedy is coming to Hull in 2017, external

    Ed Byrne, who's a regular on Mock the Week, will bring his stand-up show to Hull City Hall on 7 December next year. 

    He's the latest in a line of comedy stars to sign up to perform as part of the City of Culture year. 

    Ruby Wax, Jimmy Carr and Dave Spikey are among those coming to the city in 2017.

    The eastbound carriageway of the M180 in North Lincolnshire will be closed for around two hours after a lorry went in to the central reservation.

    Emergency services are clearing up following a fuel spill near the junction for Scawby.

    There is queuing traffic on the M180 and at the junction with the A15.
