Hull has spent many years at the bottom of league tables, experienced high unemployment and deprivation.

For decades the city has been haunted by its rundown backwater and downtrodden image after the decline of the fishing industry.

NHS managers say they won't halt the consultation over the closure of the East Riding's minor injuries units (MIUs).

The Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart and doctors at four East Riding GP practices had called on the East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to stop the consultation, claiming it's biased.

The CCG says all the proposals represent an improvement over the current system of MIUs.

East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group wants to shut the service, along with units in Withernsea and Driffield, and instead concentrate care at new 'Urgent Care Centres' in places like Beverley and Bridlington.

They say these would have better facilities and be open for longer.
