    Police are looking for this man after the theft of a purse at Aldi supermarket in Beverley, external.

    A 48-year-old woman was in the store when her purse was taken from her handbag. 

    Police are urging people to be careful with their valuables and be aware of who is around them.

    • Bridlington has been chosen to host the start of next year's Tour de Yorkshire cycle race
    • 15,000 properties in Hull are being protected from flooding thanks to a a new multi-million pound project

  8. Police shooting: Family say man had mental health problemspublished at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2016

    The family of a man who was fatally shot by police has said he had mental health problems.

    Investigations are continuing by the Independent Police Complaints Commission into the fatal police shooting in Hull on Tuesday morning.

    Lewis Skelton, aged 31, was tasered and shot on Francis Street in the city centre following reports he was carrying an axe. He died later in hospital. 

    A post mortem examination has confirmed that he died as a result of gunshot wounds.

  10. Stone laid to commemorate Philip Larkinpublished at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2016

    A memorial stone has been placed in Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey to commemorate the Hull poet Philip Larkin. 

    He worked as the librarian at the University of Hull and today marks 31 years since his death. 

    The name stone includes a line from one of his poems and will be close to those of Thomas Hardy and the Bronte Sisters.

  11. Bridlington to start 2017 Tour de Yorkshire racepublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2016

    Racers will leave the East Coast town before heading through Driffield to Pocklington for the first sprint of the race. 

    They will also make their way up Garrowby Hill before heading for Whitby and then finishing the stage in Scarborough. 

    It's hoped that visitors to East Yorkshire will boost the local economy when the event begins in April. 

    I spent the morning in Bridlington talking to local residents.

    A mostly cloudy afternoon and for many dry, but there is the risk the cloud could be thick enough for a little light rain or drizzle at times.

    A new pumping station has been opened this morning which will protect more than 15,000 homes in Hull.

    The site is in the north east of the city, which suffered badly when Hull flooded almost 10 years ago. 

    Local residents say they hope this new development will ensure they aren't left under water in the future.

    The launch of Hull's new wind turbine blade factory has been hailed as Hull's best chance to give young people reliable work. 

    The Siemens factory on Alexandra Dock officially opened yesterday and the company's UK director says they already have orders until 2020.

    For those who live here, what's just as important are the economic benefits it will bring now and for future generations.

  19. Watch: Local authorities pay out compensation for asbestos victimspublished at 11:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2016

    Local authorities across Yorkshire and the Humber have paid out £1.2m in compensation to former staff and pupils who've contracted asbestos-related diseases in schools over the last 10 years.

    At least 1,800 schools in the region still contain asbestos which was banned in 1999.

    There have been 29 claims brought against local authorities, with 16 cases settled.

    Rachel Reeves MP is the Chair of Asbestos in Schools Committee.
