This is the moment Nick Grimshaw announced Hull as the host for the 2017 Big Weekend on his Radio One breakfast show:
They're one of the biggest rock bands in the world and they're coming to East Yorkshire in May.
The Followill boys are now seven albums in and hot off the back of latest LP,Walls, they're looking forward to performing for their fans in Hull:

Radio 1's Big Weekend is coming to Hull as part of the City of Culture celebrations and has been planned alongside the Hull 2017 team.
Martin Green, the Director Hull UK City of Culture 2017, says they're thrilled:
Quote MessageBringing this major national event with some of the biggest names in the music industry is a massive coup for the city and confirms its growing international profile as THE place to be."
A few people have been asking about the fact Radio 1's Big Weekend isn't technically within the Hull boundary.
It's actually in Skirlaugh, 10 miles north east of Hull.

Organisers say they spent months looking at possible venues and found there was nowhere in Hull that could fit an event of this size.
They needed space to fit 50,000 music fans, several stages and camping, so Burton Constable, with it's 300 acres of land was the perfect choice.
All the details, including buses and transport to the site will be announced over the coming months.
It's Hull's newest, trendiest art gallery...and it's run by children!

Hull 2017, the team behind the City of Culture, have teamed up with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service to create what they've called a "unique head-turning fully wrapped fire engine".
The brand new engine will form part of the round the clock emergency service cover and will first be housed at East Hull, before moving to the new Hull Central Fire Station on Spring Street.
It will be fully operational, but will also feature at community and cultural events throughout the year.
Quote MessageLike the blade, we have kept this engine as our little secret for a number of weeks and hope that the people of Hull appreciate our small contribution to what will be a great year for Hull."
Dene Sanders, Chief Fire Officer, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service

With crowds queuing outside Hull's museums and concerts selling out, you'd think we'd be running out of things to do in the City of Culture.

Coloured lights have been installed in blocks of flats on a Hull housing estate as part of an arts project for UK City of Culture 2017.
The work called "I Wish To Communicate With You" was designed by artist Silvio Palladino who worked with people living on Great Thornton Street near the city centre.
Residents chose the coloured filter to be installed on the lights outside their flat.
Visible from all around Hull city centre, these newly transformed buildings look beautiful. But what's the story behind them?

The famous cream telephone boxes are unique to the city of Hull.
But as many now use mobile phones, people stopped using them and dozens were removed.
However, they're making a come back around the city for the year of culture.

The Ferens Art Gallery is open again!
And as we've reported already this morning there were record number of visitors over the weekend. 10,000 people walked through the gallery's doors.
Here are my three great reasons to visit.

Hull's Ferens art gallery is celebrating one of its most successful weekends ever.
10,000 visitors passed through, with 6,000 on Saturday and another 4,000 on Sunday. The building re-opened to the public on Friday after a multi-million pound investment.
The Maritime Museum also had to turn people away from its Bowhead whales exhibit, telling visitors after 15:00 on Saturday there was no more room.
Hull Museums say they were getting more than 1,000 visitors an hour for the exhibit.
