    Everyone's talking about the new art installation in the centre of Hull. 

    The 246ft (75m) wind turbine blade installed yesterday was conceived by artist Nayan Kulkarni.

    It's been created for Look Up, external, a programme of temporary artworks created for the city’s public spaces.

    Hull's City of Culture team say the first week has been a great success after revealing that more than 340,000 people visited Made in Hull.

    A new art installation which today spends its first full day in Hull's Queen Victoria Square was kept under wraps for months by a handful of people connected with Hull City of Culture. 

    The 246ft long (75m), 28 tonne (28,449kg) Siemens wind turbine blade is part of the "Look Up" City of Culture arts programme.

    Hull's City of Culture opening event proved to be one of the UK's top attractions last week with more than 340,000 visitors. 

    Figures from City of Culture show Made in Hull had more visitors than the Science museum, Natural History Museum and the British Museum.

    Organisers say around 150,000 people have visited Hull for the opening events of the UK City of Culture. 

    The year-long celebrations started with a fireworks display beside the Humber on New Year's Day.

    They've continued with a week-long light show around the city centre called 'Made in Hull'.

    Visit Britain has also named Hull as a top visitor destination, external for 2017.

    A series of marine themed art installations will be displayed at The Deep in Hull, external this year. 

    The first is by Mandy Barker, an award-winning photographic artist whose work involving marine plastic debris has received global recognition.

    Born in Hull, her recently recognised work was originally inspired by visits to Spurn Point and will be on show throughout January and February.

    Hull's original documents, dating as far back as the thirteenth century, are on show at Hull History Centre.

    The Charters exhibition is officially launched tonight as part of the Made in Hull programme.

    City archivist Martin Taylor says they document hugely significant parts of Hull's history.
