    Police are trying to talk a man down from a roof in Grimsby. 

    He's been on top of the building on Henegage Road since 09:00. 

    Officers are on the scene and are talking to the man to try to bring him down. 

    A police cordon is in place and the road is currently closed between David Street and Welholme Road.

    He's in the City of Culture's opening event 'Made In Hull' which tells the story of Hull from the war through to the present day, through a series of giant projections.  

    Henry Priestman has been in the music business for 38 years and was part of the band The Christians who sold 3 million albums.

    Head Coach - Phelan - was sacked after just 82 days in charge.

    He took over as caretaker manager following Steve Bruce's departure in the summer, becoming a permanent appointment in October.

    Hull City have sacked head coach Mike Phelan after just 82 days in charge. 

    The news broke last night that Phelan had gone. He only signed a one-year-deal in October. 

    Here's what former Hull City captain Ian Ashbee had to say about it:

    The club released a statement, thanking him for his efforts and said the search for a replacement was now underway.

    Police are hunting for a man who snatched a purse and keys from an 83-year-old woman in Scunthorpe.

    It happened on Monday at around 09:20 on Crosby Road. 

    The man, who's white and was wearing a dark top and dark trousers, grabbed the items from the pensioner's shopping trolley.

  8. Masterpieces on show in City of Culturepublished at 10:14 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

     Art by some of the most prominent great masters, including Michelangelo, Matisse and Rembrandt, are on show in Hull as it embarks on its year as the latest UK City of Culture.

    Lines of Thought is a free exhibition of 70 line drawings spanning more than 500 years from the British Museum's prestigious collection.

    Leonardo da Vinci, Dürer, Degas, Rubens, Monet, Cézanne and Bridget Riley are also featured.

    It runs until 28 February.

    Prof Glenn Burgess, acting vice-chancellor of the University of Hull where the exhibition is held, said it could be "the single greatest gathering of artistic talent ever seen in Hull".

    An artist has recreated five historic museum artefacts in gold as part of a treasure hunt art exhibition.

    Luke Jerram was commissioned by 20-21 Arts Centre in Scunthorpe to produce the work.

    From February the gold replicas - each cast in £1,000 worth of 18-carat gold - will be hidden around the town for the public to find and keep.

    Clues to their whereabouts will be disguised in five paintings which will be on display at the venue.

    Community projects which support educational, environmental, energy efficiency and amenity initiatives in the Snaith, Airmyn, Rawcliffe and Marshlands and Goole South Ward of the East Riding are being encouraged to apply for a share of the Goole Fields Wind Farm Community Fund, external.

    This is the third year allocations have been opened.

    Last year 18 projects were given money.

    A seal which was left stranded on an embankment near Victoria Dock in Hull last night has been rescued by Humberside Fire and Rescue.

    This one is from the nearby Donna Nook nature reserve - not the one that was rescued, but who can resist a cute seal picture?

    Fire crews were called to the Corinthian Way area of the city where they used a salvage sheet to release the animal.

    It's now being cared for by the RSPCA.

    A 24-year-old woman is in a serious condition in Hull Royal Infirmary after being involved in a road traffic collision.

    It happened when she was driving a yellow Vauxhall Corsa westbound along Common Road in South Cave. It appears the car left the road and collided with a brick building.

    The woman is being treated for serious head injuries at Hull Royal Infirmary. It happened at about 09:10 on Monday 2 January.
