He's an army veteran from Scunthorpe but was horrified to received a £4,000 hospital bill for treatment he should get free.
Bosses at Doncaster Hospital say he failed to prove he is eligible for free care, despite being treated there for the past ten years.
They say all patients must now send in ID to show they are entitled to NHS treatment to stop so called "health tourism".

An 83-year-old woman has been left shaken after she was robbed in Scunthorpe yesterday, external morning, Monday 2 January.
Police say she was pushing a dark blue shopping trolley with a tartan lid along Crosby Road when it happened around 09:20.
A man approached her and despite trying to stop him he managed to get in to her trolley and take her keys and purse.

The first 400 years of Hull's history is being celebrated as part of an exhibition showing important documents from the city's past.
Hull History Centre, external has opened it's archives for the event which starts today as part of the Made in Hull, external programme.
Among the documents on display are Hull's first Charter from the 1299 and the Charter of Queen Mary.

A handbag was snatched from a woman as she walked along Lord Street in Grimsby last Thursday 29 December around 20:00.

There's hope that the ash tree could remain a part of the Yorkshire Wolds countryside - despite a fungus which has been threatening to wipe out the tree from large areas.
Researchers at York University and Queen Mary University in London have developed a screening technique allowing growers to identify saplings that are resistant to the disease.
Areas where trees have been wiped out would be replanted with ash dieback resistant stock.

I'm planning to go on a treasure hunt!
Five gold objects including this ram (pictured) worth £1000 each are now ready to be hidden around Scunthorpe.
They'll be put in place next month with clues to their whereabouts hidden in paintings at the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre.
The objects are replicas of things found in the North Lincolnshire Museum, and if you find them you can keep them.

Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses after money was stolen from a till , externalat the Farm Foods store on Greenwood Avenue, Hull at around 4.30pm yesterday, Monday 2 January.
A man who was waiting in the checkout queue reached across and grabbed cash out of the till when the customer in front paid and the till was open.

People are angry that North East Lincolnshire council took away their parking schemes three years ago.
It's at the new Cartergate development where protestors claim workers have a discount for parking.
The council say the car park is underused and the loss of some bays to the new office development during weekdays is unlikely to have much of an impact.

Quentin Budworth's installation as part of Made In Hull had a last minute location change yesterday.
I saw this last night and thought it was was great but also was a shame the new location just behind the C4DI building didn't have a white background to show off the photos to their best.
Looks as though that's been sorted out now and the Hullywood Icons, external are shining bright like the stars they are!
