    Council tax scammers are causing problems in North East Lincolnshire. 

    Trading Standards, external say it's part of a nationwide scam. 

    They've had several reports of residents being contacted by a private company offering money back on council tax payments or the chance to have their council tax band downgraded. 

    But it's a scam which has seen people hand over their bank account details to strangers.

    • Northern Gas networks are still looking into the reasons behind a gas outage in Withernsea, 3,000 properties were affected  
    • The shuttle bus which runs between Bridlington and Scarborough Hospitals will be axed at the end of this month
    • Hull's Ferens art gallery is celebrating one of its most successful weekends with ten thousand passing through at the weekend

    East Riding Council say they are continuing to offer hot meals and drinks today at the leisure centre in Withernsea for people who are still without gas in the town.

    Gas has now been restored to most properties in the area. 

    It's thought water may have damaged equipment during Friday's storms.

    A clean-up continues on the East Yorkshire coast after flooding on Friday night.

    In Hornsea, around ten homes and businesses were badly damaged as huge waves breached the sea walls. 

    The Environment Agency says it'll gather data to see if defences can be improved.

    A former Hull City Council worker has been nominated for a Brit award. 

    Calum Scott, has been recognised for his cover of "Dancing On My Own" which reached number 2 in the singles chart last year. 

    He's thanked fans for their support on social media describing the nomination as "insane". 

    The winner of Best British Single will be announced at the Brit Awards next month.

  10. Shuttle bus between Bridlington and Scarborough axedpublished at 10:14 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2017

    The bus service which connects Bridlington and Scarborough hospitals is being cut. 

    NHS managers in North Yorkshire announced last summer that they would no longer subsidise the buses, which are used by hospital patients and their visitors. 

    Now East Riding Council has announced the replacement pay-as-you go service isn't financially viable either and will end on January the 29th.

  11. Ferens gallery celebrates after successful weekendpublished at 09:56 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2017

    Hull's Ferens art gallery is celebrating one of its most successful weekends ever.

    10,000 visitors passed through, with 6,000 on Saturday and another 4,000 on Sunday. The building re-opened to the public on Friday after a multi-million pound investment.   

    The Maritime Museum also had to turn people away from its Bowhead whales exhibit, telling visitors after 15:00 on Saturday there was no more room. 

    Hull Museums say they were getting more than 1,000 visitors an hour for the exhibit.

    The chairman of the group which awarded Hull the title of City of Culture 2017 says the year has got off to a great start. And the opening event 'Made in Hull' captured people imaginations.   

    Brookside and Hollyoaks creator Phil Redmond says so far Hull has been more impressive than Londonderry in 2013 and Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture in 2008.

    The inquests into the deaths of five people from Yorkshire and Lincolnshire who died in the Tunisian terror attack in 2015 will begin today. 

    Claire Windass, Bruce Wilkinson, Carly Lovett (L-R) and couple Sharon and Christopher Bell died when a gunman attacked a beach resort in Sousse. 

    30 people were killed in total, including thirty British holidaymakers.
