    A survey of birds found on East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire's farmland is being undertaken from today. 

    The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust wants farmers to record which species can be seen during a certain period on their land.

    The Deep in Hull have confirmed they've taken in a zebra shark and two loggerhead sea turtles, like the one pictured below, from an aquarium in Belgium.

    The new arrivals are in quarantine and expected to go on display next month.

    In 2014, a group of young Gentoo penguins (pictured) made the trip across the Altlantic to their new home at the aquarium.

    A group of artists from Hull who caused outrage in the 1970s by displaying graphic images - including discarded sanitary products - are holding their first exhibition looking back at their history. 

    Coum Transmissions, as they are known, are displaying their work and archives in Hull as part of City of Culture year.

    New firefighters are being recruited by Humberside Fire and Rescue for the first time in 10 years. 

    Twenty new recruits are being trained at a new facility at Immingham West Fire Station which was saved from closure last year. 

    Although it was kept open it's no longer an active fire station so Immingham now only has one station.

    Hull rugby legend Colin Hutton has died at the age of 90. 

    After a distinguished playing career with Hull FC he went on to coach Hull KR and Great Britain, winning the Ashes in 1962 and the World Cup in 68. 

    He also had a spell as Chairman of the Rugby League - he was inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame seven years ago, and having previously been Rovers' chairman, he took up the position of president. 

    He had a 60 year association with the club.

    There's concern after a service described as a "vital" part of the judiciary system at Hull Magistrates Court stopped operating because of a lack of funding. 

    The Goodwin Trust has been helping people accommodation and mental health referrals for the past 10 years.

    That service will no longer operate. 

    It's thought the service cost £30,000 a year to run.

  12. Humber estuary boat sinking: Two fined at courtpublished at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    The masters of two vessels that collided in the Humber during thick fog in May 2016 have been fined £3,000 each, plus costs.

    An investigation by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency led to the prosecution of David Carlin and Thomas Neilsen.

    Both pleaded guilty to conduct endangering ships at Hull Magistrates Court.

    Despite the thick fog, Carlin failed to comply with rules to keep his and other vessels safe.

    Plans to allow jet skiing on a nature reserve in Scunthorpe have been condemned by local people. 

    Residents say it will cause damage to the site and drive away rare birds.

    There's nearly a MILE of it, brought ashore by recent high tides.

  19. Attraction closures in Hull ahead of Royal visitpublished at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will be in Hull next Wednesday.

    They will visit the Ferens Art Gallery and meet local artists as Hull continues to host UK City of Culture 2017.

    Hull City Council says the Ferens will be closed to the public all morning and re-open at 14:30, while Holy Trinity Church, the South Church Side, will be closed between 18:00 on Tuesday 7 February and 15:00 on Wednesday 8 February.

    Hull Royal Infirmary says no operations were cancelled today after disruption for patients yesterday when mice were spotted in a surgery unit. 

    A deep clean is taking place and pest controllers have been employed.
