  16. Brewery's warning over plain packaging proposalpublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Leanne Brown
    BBC Look North

Changing alcohol packaging to include health warnings would be devastating for business, the boss of an East Yorkshire brewery is warning.

    Matthew Hodgson

Public Health England has called for warnings like those on cigarettes to be put onto bottles and cans.

But the director of Great Newsome Brewery, near Winestead, says small businesses like craft beer producers rely on their branding.

    Quote Message

Ultimately, if that's what happens then craft producers like ourselves will start to disappear. There are lots of brewers producing fantastic products out there but what distinguishes us and many others from each other is their creativeness and the branding we use to sell our product."

Humber NHS Foundation Trust says it's still in consultation with staff at the service, which is commissioned by East Riding Council.

In an interview last week, the council confirmed it had cut the budget by £500,000.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, the health visitor, who doesn't want to be named, says: "I see babies week-in week-out in the clinic for their development review. We spend time building rapport and relationships with the families, so that when they do think things are going wrong we're best placed to say, we think you need some help with this."

    Quote Message

We often get invited by social care asking us for information, asking if there's any chance that we can go round and visit. Well, if there's less of us then we're going to be able to do less of that."
