Grimsby's Labour MP Melanie Onn is one of 73 MPs who have called for Donald Trump to be banned from addressing Parliament on a state visit to the UK.

    Mel Onn

The MPs - mostly Labour - say any invitation should be withdrawn in protest at the President's decision to introduce travel bans in the United States on a number of mainly Muslim countries, his call for the reintroduction of torture, and his comments on women.

A man found with serious injuries in Hull last week remains in a critical but stable condition at the city's Royal Infirmary.

The man was found on Anlaby Road on 25 January, and it's thought he came by his injuries in the same area.

However, police say they're still trying to establish exactly what happened to him, though initial enquiries suggest the incident is not believed to be suspicious.

Detectives are "particularly keen" to speak to two men in a car which stopped and asked a man helping the injured man if they could also help out.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police, external.

  18. One is the loneliest number but what's being done to tackle loneliness?published at 10:31 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Caroline Brockelbank
    BBC Radio Humberside

I've been at Lonsdale Community Centre in Hull this morning where they're helping tackle loneliness with a sewing group called Sew It All.

Age UK in Hull told Lizzie and Carl on BBC Radio Humberside this morning that loneliness can be harmful to health, but that a simple smile or a chat can often help.

A new campaign to find new ways of tackling the problem is being launched today in memory of the late Yorkshire MP Jo Cox who worked a lot on the issue before her death.
