    The council is resurfacing the B1203 between the A18 Ashby Hill roundabout and the turn-off for Wold Newton at East Ravendale from Monday.

    Other works taking place include the renewal of damaged kerbs, road markings and studs and will take place under full night time road closures between 19:00 and 06:00.   

    North East Lincolnshire Council expects works to be completed by Tuesday 4 April 2017. 

    It says advanced notification signs will be displayed to advise residents and motorists of the road closure and local diversions..

    The Mayor of Hornsea Lee Walton says he's worried that the planned closure of the Minor Injuries Unit will put the future of the whole hospital in doubt.

    Margaret Cattle, a Cottingham lollipop lady, is hanging up her stick after 40 years on the job.

  6. Watch: Humberside force commended over reform of women offenders published at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2017

    The Humberside Police force is being held up as an example of how to reform and help women offenders. 

    The force is among several in Yorkshire seeing a decline in arrest rates for women over a 12-month period, according to new figures from the Prison Reform Trust, external .

    However, Lincolnshire Police is one of the forces seeing an increase during that same year.

    Dr Tom Guiney, from the Prison Reform Trust, has commended Humberside's efforts:

    Today's the last day on the job for an East Riding lollipop lady who's been helping children cross the road for 40 years.

  8. Listen: Countdown to urgent care services decisionpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2017

    As we've been reporting today, a final decision on the future of urgent care services in the East Riding is due to be taken next week.

    A report recommends there should be three Urgent Care Centres based in Beverley, Bridlington and Goole hospitals, with three additional  appointment-only centres in Hessle, Withernsea and Driffield which will be open from 08:00 until 20:00.

    Dr Gina Palumbo, chair of the East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group, has told the BBC that Hornsea isn't thought to need an Urgent Care Centre:

    Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart revealed he is against the decision and has backed taking up the issue with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

    The funeral of the Yorkshire Cricket player and president John Hampshire has been held.

    He was part of the White Rose side that won three successive County Championships between 1966 and 1968 and skippered the team in 1979 and 1980.    

    John Hampshire was also an international umpire and scored 21,979 runs for the Headingley-based club.

    He died at the beginning of the month aged 76, following a long illness.

  11. Watch: Hull school children's 'wheely' fast racing carpublished at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2017

    A racing car which has been built by school children and which can hit 15mph goes on display in Hull this weekend. 

    Pupils from Eastfield Primary on Anlaby Road are taking part in Project Blyth, which will see more than 50 schools and colleges across the region race their vehicles in Hull this summer. 

    They've been explaining more about their car which will be on show at Princes Quay from Saturday:

  12. Cleethorpes housing estate plans rejectedpublished at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2017

    Plans for a new housing estate in Cleethorpes have been turned down by North East Lincolnshire planners.

    Residents in Old Clee have been fighting the plans for 30 new houses for more than two years, and a second planning application has now been rejected.

  13. Grimsby kids get free cereal thanks to charity and football club published at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2017

    Thousands of boxes of cereal have been handed out to schools and charities in North East Lincolnshire. 

    The His Church charity has teamed up with Grimsby Town football club in a bid to to try and get children to eat more healthily and also take part in sport.

  14. Hull animal centre gets spring cleanpublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2017

    The Animal Education Centre in Hull's East Park will close from Monday 19 March for essential maintenance work.

    The work will take three weeks and will include a repaint of the centre, spring clean and repairs, according to Hull City Council.

    It's expected to be open in time for the Easter Holidays.

    The park's other facilities like the outdoor gym, fishing lake and bowling green are not affected.

    An East Riding lollipop lady will today help children in Cottingham cross the road for the final time after 40 years' service.

    Margaret Cattle works on the Southwood Road crossing in the village and is thought to be the longest serving lollipop lady in the area.

  17. Listen: Minor Injuries Unit campaigners pledge 'fight isn't over' published at 11:42 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2017

    Campaigners battling to keep Hornsea's Minor Injuries Unit say they'll take their fight to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt after a report recommended its closure. 

    A final decision will be made on East Yorkshire's NHS facilities next week, but it's proposed that Hornsea's unit will shut. 

    Instead, there'll be Major Urgent Care Centres at Beverley, Bridlington and Goole

    There will be facilities at Withernsea, Hessle and Driffield, but they'll be appointment-only with extended opening hours.

    If you live in Grimsby, Cleethorpes or the surrounding area, you could face three-weekly bin collections under new proposals by North East Lincolnshire Council. 

    The option to empty the green bins once every three weeks is one of nine being looked at next week.

    There are plans to introduce an updated audio tour for Hull's Ferens Art Gallery early this summer.

    It's after a visually impaired woman told BBC Radio Humberside she'd been unable to enjoy a visit to the gallery because there were no headsets available on two separate occasions. 

    Hull City Council says heritage learning volunteers are working on an updated audio tour for the Ferens. 

    But in the meantime Hull 2017 volunteers and staff are guiding visitors requiring assistance around the gallery, the council says.
