    The full line-up for Radio One's Big Weekend, external at Burton Constable will be revealed this morning.

    So far we know Katy Perry, Little Mix, Stormzy and Kings of Leon are confirmed for the event at the end of May.

  5. Hull Quaker visits refugees in Italypublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 18 April 2017

    Over the bank holiday weekend more than 5,000 people were rescued from unseaworthy boats off the Libyan coast. 

    The Italian coastguard says the good spring weather has been tempting more migrants to attempt the crossing to Europe. 

    Sam Donaldson is a Quaker from Hull and he was part of a group of men from Churches across Britain and Ireland who visited Italian refugees camps in Sicily and Lampedusa.

    A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries after being assaulted on Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe. 

    The man was walking with friends, having previously left the Scunthorpe United football ground, on Saturday 8 April when he was shouted at by a group of unknown men on the other side of the road. 

    They then crossed the road and assaulted the man.

    The MP for Hull West and Hessle has said he will not stand in June's general election.

    In a letter to the Constituecy Labour Party, former Home Secretary Alan Johnson said next month would mark his 20th year in the seat and he had to think about what was best for the constituency and the Labour Party.

    He added that his role has been a pleasure.

    MPs from across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire have been reacting to the news that the Prime Minister wants to call a general election on 8 June. 

    Theresa May made the announcement in a statement outside Ten Downing Street this morning, saying it was in the national interest.   

    Conservative MP  for Brigg and Goole , Andrew Percy and Melanie Onn, the Labour MP for Great Grimsby shared their thoughts.

    New rules could be brought in to restrict the number of charity fund-raisers collecting in Hull city centre. 

    The council's looking at regulations which would mean so-called "chuggers" would have to apply for a temporary licence, which would be restricted to special events.

    The flowers went on display in King Edward Square last week, as part of the City of Culture celebrations.

    Intruders drove a 4x4 onto the Market Weighton allotments last night, smashing a perimeter fence and causing damage to around thirty sheds, apparently looking for power tools.

    It's the latest in a series of break-ins but the most brazen and its left allotment keepers with a huge repair bill.

    The lego daffodils that have been in Hull city centre since last week will be sold off for charity today.

    A number of police officers and specialist teams are currently involved in a major operation in Grimsby.

    Several arrests have been made and police continue to search properties in East Marsh.
