  3. Remains of medieval priest uncovered at Thornton Abbeypublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 18 April 2017

    The remains of a priest who died 700 years ago have been discovered by archaeologists working at Thornton Abbey in North Lincolnshire.

    The grave of Richard de W'Peton, who died on 17 April 1317, was found near a former hospital chapel's altar by University of Sheffield archaeologists.

    It's believed that he was between 35 and 45 when he died and could have fallen victim to the Great European famine of 1315-1317.

  4. Man killed in A46 Osgodby crashpublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 18 April 2017

    Police say a man has died after a crash on the A46 at Osgodby last night.

    It happened at about 21:15. 

    The driver, who was in his 50s from the Cleethorpes area, died at the scene.

    His passenger, a woman, was taken to hospital in Hull for treatment.

    Buses travelling towards Hull from Bridlington are being diverted due to a road closure. Only buses going to Hull are affected, no change to the buses travelling the other way.

    Well Scunthorpe MP Nic Dakin is going to be running the London Marathon this weekend for two local charities.

    From September new rules will come into force which could give parents more access to free childcare - up to 30 hours per week for three-year-old children of working parents. 

    But some nurseries say it's going to cause them problems as there might not be enough places to go round. 

    I've been speaking to Jackie and Tracey from the Avenues Nursery in Hull.

  9. Lego daffodils to be sold off for charitypublished at 08:52 British Summer Time 18 April 2017

    Two thousand daffodils made entirely of Lego will be sold off for charity in Hull today.

    The flowers have been on display in King Edward Square as part of City of Culture since last week.

    They'll be given away on a first come first served basis from 14:00 this afternoon, in exchange for a donation.

  10. Lifeboat rescue after woman found face down in sea off Fileypublished at 08:38 British Summer Time 18 April 2017

    An elderly woman is being treated in hospital in Hull after being rescued off the coast of Filey over the Easter weekend.

    The inshore lifeboat crew had just finished training on Sunday when they were called out by the Humber coastguard after reports a woman was seen floating face-down in the sea.

    The woman was taken to hospital in Hull by Yorkshire Air Ambulance. 

    An ambulance service spokeswoman said the woman was "conscious and breathing" when crews got to her, and North Yorkshire Police said she was now recovering.

     A cold and frosty start to the day but fine and dry with plenty of sunshine. 

    There is a small chance of the odd light shower towards the coast this morning otherwise it will stay dry with plenty of sunshine. 

    Temperatures around 11C but cooler along the east coast.
