  1. Restored Yorkshire Buccaneer strike jet to go on showpublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 31 May 2017

    A plane built in Brough, East Yorkshire in the early 1960s will go on display in its original condition at the Yorkshire Air Museum from today.

    The Blackburn Buccaneer played a role in the Gulf War, it's been on display in Elvington since 1991 but has undergone an extensive paint job to restore its original livery.

  3. Restored Yorkshire Buccaneer strike jet unveiledpublished at 10:07 British Summer Time 31 May 2017

    A Yorkshire-built Cold War aircraft which has been restored to its original livery is due to be shown off to the public later.

    The Buccaneer worked on HMS Hermes and HMS Ark Royal, the famous aircraft carrier which was adopted by Leeds, before becoming the first Fleet Air Arm aircraft to fly a transatlantic route non-stop and without refuelling.

    The Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington, near York, is rolling out the aircraft, which first flew in 1964 from Holme on Spalding Moor.

    Blackburn Buccaneer S2 XN974 will be unveiled to the public at about 11:00 today.

    A housing charity in North East Lincolnshire is to close three sheltered housing schemes.

    Shoreline has told the 35 residents of the schemes in Grimsby, Laceby and Humberston they're shutting because they're outdated and unsuitable for the needs of older people.

    The charity says it's taken into consideration all factors before making its decision and will assist in rehousing residents.

    The majority of residents in two of the schemes weren't in favour of closure.

    An East Yorkshire school has had to cut a trip to Barcelona short after a British Airways IT failure grounded most flights over the Bank Holiday weekend.

    The Snaith School had been planning to go on five-day school trip but it has now been cut to just three.

    British Airways blames a power surge for the disruption that's reportedly affected 75,000 people.

    The airline says it's now running a full schedule of flights, although it would take time for passengers and their luggage to be reunited.

  14. East Riding man jailed for non-payment of council taxpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

    An Anlaby man has been jailed for 89 days after failing to pay council tax debts of almost £4,000.

    John Dixon, aged 51, of Sykes Close, Anlaby, was told in December 2015 to pay £10 a week towards the arrears of £3,975.20 but has since only paid £30.

    The last time someone in the East Riding was jailed for such a crime was 15 years ago.

    Divers will start an underwater survey this week of historic ships, the Ross Tiger, the Esther and Perseverance owned by North East Lincolnshire Council.

    The work will help decide how to preserve the vessels for the future.

    The feasibility study's expected to be completed at the end of July.

    People are being encouraged to take part in a clean up of Cleethorpes beach as part of a celebration of our oceans today.

    The Keep It Clear, external event, which urges people to not flush things like cotton buds and wipes down the toilet, has been organised by Anglian Water.

    A Hull city centre shop was broken into during the early hours of this morning.

    The window of a phone shop on Jameson Street was broken and a Google Pixel mobile phone was stolen.

    Two suspects wearing hoodies were seen leaving the area in a silver coloured Vauxhall car.

    Humberside Police is appealing for witnesses.
