Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby and Scunthorpe General Hospital are expecting their A&E department to be "stretched" over the weekend.

They say extra visitors to the east coast mean more people will be visiting their A&E and minor injuries departments.

Paul Kirton-Watson, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust associate chief nurse (medicine), says the trust has redeployed staff "to maintain safe and effective care" but resources are still expected to be stretched.

"We would urge people to choose wisely, either with self-care or by speaking to their pharmacist about minor illnesses and injuries, rather than attending one of our hospitals," Mr Kirton-Watson adds.

  4. Warning over future of Hull's Beverley Gate remainspublished at 09:32 British Summer Time 4 August 2017

There's concern that the remains of Hull's Old Town wall could be seriously damaged by children.

Children playing on the historic Beverley gate ruins.

Campaigners who helped to get the site preserved in recent years say many youngsters have been using the Beverley Gate site as a climbing frame.

Local historian Mike Covell fears the listed site may not last long if it continues.

Hull City Council has asked people to respect the monument and not climb on it.

It says an existing "keep off" sign is to be repainted and a refurbished blue plaque and new information board will soon be put in place.

I've been talking to people who live in the area on the phone. They say they are too scared of reprisals to be seen talking to the BBC.

Humberside Police say the recent incidents are not linked.
