    Work starts today on a new multi-million pound staff accommodation block at Grimsby hospital, external.

    It'll cost more than £16m and will have 96 student units and 124 apartments.

    Managers say the present accommodation is in poor condition and they hope the new development will attract more key workers to the area, including doctors and nurses.

    Posing beneath Whitby's famous whale bones, they were among hundreds of people from around the UK to have taken part in the town's Steampunk Weekend.

    The festival, at Whitby Pavilion, featured fire breathing, cabaret and martial arts for Victorian gentlemen.

    Organisers said the aim of the event - called Beyond The Sea - was "to welcome splendid people" and have fun.

    Steampunk has been described as "nostalgia for what never was" and draws on a wide variety of influences from HG Wells to comics.

    People have been queuing through the night at the KCOM Stadium for tickets for Hull FC's second Challenge Cup final in two years.

    The Black and Whites beat Leeds Rhinos on Saturday to reach the final, and now face Wigan at Wembley on Saturday 26 August.

    Tickets became available to club members from 09:00 today, with the general release taking place on Thursday.

    An HGV driver has died after his vehicle overturned in Brandesburton in East Yorkshire.

    The crash happened on Catwick Lane on the afternoon of Friday 21 July.

    The 42-year-old was taken by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary, but he died from his serious injuries last Friday.

    Police are asking anyone who saw the incident to get in touch, external.

    North East Lincolnshire Council's cabinet group is due to meet to decide if the lease of the town's ice rink should be handed to a community group after plans were agreed in principle in June.

    A revolutionary new heart monitor is being fitted to patients in our region.The technology allows people who have black-outs to monitor their heart with a smartphone

    It also means doctors can remotely keep tabs on their patients.

    Traditional heart monitors are the size of a USB stick and had to be implanted during an operation but patients no longer require surgery with the new technology.

    Lee Wise, a cardiac physiologist at Castle Hill Hospital, says the monitors will prove very useful:

    A man's died after his car left the road on the A1033 near Patrington.

    Emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday morning.

    The male driver of the silver Audi A4 died at the scene and has not been identified.
