  2. Takeover talks for Grimsby fish processing businesspublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 3 August 2017

    A meat processing company which supplies Tesco is in talks to buy Grimsby firm Icelandic Seachill.

    Seachill is a leading supplier of chilled fish to the UK retail market and employs about 750 people at its two sites in Grimsby.

    Hilton Food Group plc says it's in the very early stages of talks about a potential acquisition and there are no guarantees it will go ahead.

    An official statement will be released if the firm does take over the business, it adds.

  3. Power station workers set to strike in pay rowpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 3 August 2017

    Some scaffolders working at Eggborough power station, near Selby, are to take industrial action in a dispute over pay.

    The Unite union claims that a contractor, Cape Industrial Services, is not paying its workers the agreed national hourly pay rate.

    The first of two 48-hour strikes is due to take place on 17 August.

    It has been 100 days since police began looking for missing Hull mum Renata Antczak.

    Humberside Police searched the area around her home on Beamsley Way, Hull, last month after they announced they would treat the disappearance as a potential murder inquiry.

    She was last seen dropping her daughter off at primary school in April.

    A man with a knife has been arrested in connection with a number of robberies, external in the Freeman Street area of Grimsby.

    The 26-year-old man of no fixed abode remains in police custody.

    He'll appear at Grimsby Magistrates Court today charged with robbery, theft and possessing a knife.

    Britain's Kyle Edmund went out of the Citi Open in Washington with a three-set defeat by Bulgarian fourth seed Grigor Dimitrov in round two.

    Dimitrov won 7-5 4-6 6-3 and next faces Russian Daniil Medvedev, who beat Steve Johnson of the US 3-6 6-4 7-6 (7-1).

    Edmund, 22, had been hoping to build on his run to the semi-finals of the Atlanta Open last week.

    It's thought the weaker pound and the Brexit effect are leading to more exports for companies in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

    New national figures show export orders from across the UK rose last month at the fastest pace since April 2010, and at the second highest rate since the survey began.

    It's partly being put down to a weaker pound.

    Cartwright and Butler in Gilberdyke have seen a 100% increase in exports which is partly due to increased demand in South East Asia for their biscuits, chutneys and condiments (pictured).

    Hull Trains will put on additional services for Hull FC fans travelling to the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley on Saturday 26 August.

    The team will return to Wembley after they won the title for the first time last year.

    Buses around the Marina area of Hull are to be diverted from tomorrow because of the Humber Street Sesh music event.

    Diversions will be in place from 08:00 on Thursday until 17:00 on Sunday 6 August, according to East Yorkshire Motor Services.

    There will also be diversions on the seafront roads in Withernsea from 07:00 on Friday 4 to Sunday 6 August for the Withernsea Festival.

  16. Field of daisies goes on display at Beverley Minsterpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 2 August 2017

    A garden of hand-crafted ceramic daisies has gone on show in the grounds of Beverley Minster.

    It's taken six months for local pottery owner Mark Teale to produce the 500 individually created, 7cm diameter ceramic daisies.

    The flowers can be purchased to raise funds for cancer charity the Daisy Appeal, external.

    Here's Professor Nick Stafford, director of research and development for the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, whose idea the daisies were, with one of the ceramic flowers:

    The Sugar Mill nightclub in Hull is to get a £1m renovation and will be renamed, it's been announced.

    The new club, which will be named ATIK, is due to open in September and is expected to create about 45 new jobs.

    Reaction has been coming in to the news that Grimsby's ice rink has been saved from closure.

    Campaigners are celebrating this afternoon after they were given permission to take over the running of the rink.

    North East Lincolnshire Council had planned to close it because they said it was too expensive for them to run.

    Almost 73,000 people have taken part in NHS clinical trials in Yorkshire and the Humber region over the last year, new figures show.

    The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust says it's seen an almost 300% increase in patients taking part in medical trials.

    Involvement in clinical research can range from drugs trials to testing new medical devices.

    The trust says it's seen a huge rise in the number of people taking part in research.
