Havelock Academy punished the pupils, some of whom were on their first day at the school, for breaking what's described as a "non-negotiable uniform policy".

Harry (above) was one of the pupils put into isolation because the school said his hair was too short.

However, he says he's had the same haircut for a while and can't understand why he was punished.

The school's uniform policy, published on its website, states that "inappropriate hairstyles" will not be accepted, including "stripes and patterns" cut into hair.

The Academy also says no hairstyles can be "shorter than a grade two".

A Department for Education spokeswoman said the government has committed to a £10m-a-year programme to expand breakfast clubs in up to 1,600 schools in England.

    Quote Message
