    Concerns are being raised in North East Lincolnshire over plans to to replace Toll Bar roundabout with traffic lights.

    It's thought up to 10 sets of lights could be installed on the A16, but final proposals for the scheme will be agreed once a contractor for the works is appointed.

  4. Crowdfunding page set up to raise funeral cash for fatal crash victimpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 7 September 2017

    A fundraising page has been created for the funeral of 24-year-old Sonny Kiss, who died on Monday morning in a collision in North Lincolnshire.

    Mr Kiss died when his car collided with a green tipper truck and a Vauxhaull Astra on the eastbound carriageway of the A180 near Barnetby Top.

    Family friends of Mr Kiss are looking to raise £2,000 to go towards funeral costs, external, with any remaining cash going to his daughter.

    Witnesses to a crash in Hull city centre yesterday are being asked by police to get in touch.

    The collision involved a black VW passat and a cream coloured Renault Clio at the busy Mytongate Roundabout yesterday afternoon.

    The occupants of both vehicles suffered minor injuries and traffic in the area was delayed for some time as a result.

  6. A180 Barnetby Top crash victim namedpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 7 September 2017

    A man from Cleethorpes who died in a collision on the A180 near Barnetby Top in North Lincolnshire earlier this week has been named as 24-year-old Sonny Kiss.

    Mr Kiss died when the Nissan Micra he was driving collided with a green tipper truck and a Vauxhaull Astra on the eastbound carriageway of the A180 at about 05:30 on Monday morning.

    Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw what happened prior to the collision is being asked to contact Humberside Police, external.

  7. Humber Bridge abseil challenge for Hornsea man with MNDpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 7 September 2017

    A man from Hornsea who lost the ability to walk last year through Motor Neurone Disease (MND) will attempt to abseil down the Humber Bridge this weekend.

    Jason Liversidge, who climbed Mount Snowdon back in July and went on the longest zipline in the world last year, now plans to abseil down the structure.

    The aim is to raise money for the MND Association and firefighters' charities.

    A family fun day has also been organised for afterwards.

    Haltemprice and Howden MP and Brexit Secretary David Davis is urging MPs to pass the so-called "repeal bill".

    The EU (Withdrawal) Bill will end the supremacy of EU law in the UK dating back more than 40 years but convert all existing EU laws into domestic ones.

    Two days of debate will start later, with many, including some Conservative backbenchers, expressing concerns about the bill.

    Labour says it will vote against the bill as it stands next Monday.

    The UK is due to leave the EU at the end of March 2019 following last year's referendum vote.

    Hull North MP Diana Johnson says she'll complain to the government about Hull City Council's internal report into baby ashes - which was released last month.

    Ms Johnson thinks the report doesn't go into enough detail and should be carried out by an independent legal expert.

    It's after dozens of families discovered that their still born babies' ashes had been scattered without their knowledge.

    The council says it's worked extensively with affected families - and will continue to do so.

  10. School kids help create song for Hullpublished at 09:28 British Summer Time 7 September 2017

    The words of poems written by children from local primary schools are being used to create a song for Hull.

    It'll be written by Hull rapper Nineties boy and local singer Helen Garnett, and will be performed next month at City Hall.

    A choir of hospital staff was involved in the project and the group says the youngsters were really creative.

    Some business owners in a part of Hull fear upcoming major road works will seriously impact trade.

    Hull City Council will begin resurfacing Newland Avenue on Monday, with sections having to close for six weeks and buses unlikely to run in the area.

    The local authority says the work is essential and its priority is to cause the minimum disruption.

  12. Calls for more even pavements in Hull to help people with disabilitiespublished at 08:50 British Summer Time 7 September 2017

    A wheelchair user from Hull is calling on the government to improve access on pavements for people with disabilities.

    Simon Pooley has cerebral palsy and says he often comes up against uneven paths and high kerbs which he says can make his journey long and uncomfortable.

    Hull City Council says it aims to keep paving across the city in a safe condition, carrying out regular inspections and repairs, and it asks the public to report defects.

    It's an issue that's also being looked at nationally, a recent Women and Equalities Committee report, external also called on the government to lead the way in improving access and inclusion for people with disabilities.

    What do pattie butties, Amy Johnson, The Deep, William Wilberforce and the Bee Lady all have in common?

    Well, apart from them being Hull icons, they all feature in a selection of poems written by primary school children for a new City of Culture project.

    Here's a peek at one of them

    The poems, by children from eight schools across the city, will be used to form a ‘Song for Hull’, which will be performed for the first time at Hull City Hall on Friday 20 October.
