    People are being asked to help clean two of our region's most visited beaches this weekend.

    Events are being held at Hessle Foreshore and Bridlington's North Beach tomorrow for the Great British Beach Clean, external.

    It's being held by the Marine Conservation Society in an attempt to get as much litter off the UK's coast as possible.

    A rescue helicopter which covers northern Lincolnshire has become one of the first in the country to carry blood on its emergency flights.

    It means doctors can give transfusions at the scene of an accident, rather than having to wait to get a patient to hospital.

    The Lincolnshire and Nottingham Air Ambulance responds to about 1,000 call-outs a year.

    Hull's biggest theatre will re-open tomorrow with a gala performance by the Royal Ballet.

    The New Theatre has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment over the past year.

    The gala will feature dancers from Hull, including Xander Parish, who now performs with one of Russia's most famous ballet companies.

  12. 'Chaos' at Grimsby hospital due to new parking systempublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    People using Grimsby hospital say there has been traffic chaos because of a new parking system.

    One man says he's had to wait for more than half an hour to get into the car park to take his mother for treatment at the Diana, Princess of Wales hospital.

    The Trust has told us they've had engineers and staff on site to help people with new number plate recognition barriers which are part of a range of improvements to their car parks.

    A dance show about the deployment of soldiers on the front line comes to Hull today.

    It's called 5 Soldiers, external and tells the story of men and women as they are trained and then sent to a war zone.

    A national tour of the show started in London last weekend, which was also streamed by the BBC.

    Tonights performance is at the Paragon Interchange in Hull city centre.

  15. Leeds boy, 15, arrested after half-hour police pursuit on M62published at 16:44 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    A 15-year-old boy from Leeds who was allegedly driving a stolen car has been arrested after a police chase on the M62.

    The pursuit took place at about 14:00 on Wednesday when officers spotted a stolen Audi TT which had been taken from Barton-upon-Humber in North Lincolnshire back in July.

    Officers had picked up the car using Automatic Number Plate Recognition as it headed eastbound on the M62 at J32.

    After a pursuit lasting about half an hour - which headed off at J34 and onto the A19 - officers stopped the car and the driver and passenger ran off.

    A 15-year-old boy from Morley was arrested and is currently in custody, while the passenger is still at large, police say.

    Plans for a major expansion and development of South Cliff Caravan Park in Bridlington were approved today.

    East Riding of Yorkshire Council manage the site, which generates a profit for the authority and was highly praised recently by independent consultants.

    It's at 100% capacity with 800 permanent static caravan pitches. Other pitches are being sold several times over during the season.

    The development would boost the local economy in Bridlington with an estimated 158,000 visits to the town each year.

    Along with expansion of the park there will be new 'glamping' lodges and staff facilities, with the investment being paid for from the profits generated.

    Humberside police have just said he's been found safe and well. They thank the public for all their help.

    Some workers at Hull New Theatre have told BBC Look North they haven't been given their jobs back, following the multi million pound refurbishment the theatre.

    The casual staff say they missed out after being forced to reapply for jobs.

    Six weeks ago the councillor responsible for Leisure and Tourism said he expected the process to be a formality for current staff.

    The company that runs the theatre says it's abided by employment law and needs to ensure it has the right people for the job.

    To be the UK's Capital of the renewable energy industry.

    That's Grimsby's bold ambition which is being set out a conference in the town today.

    Riding on the successful investment in Grimsby by the likes of Dong Energy and ENGIE, North East Lincolnshire Council says the town is perfectly placed to attract millions of pounds to the area.

    Delegates at the Clean Break Summit will today hear that the area can go even further and become central to the UK's green energy aims and deserves even more investment to secure jobs and regeneration.

    The leader of North East Lincolnshire Council Ray Oxby says Grimsby should be the centre for innovation.

  20. RAC supports campaign to stop unfair parking practicespublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Following calls from an East Yorkshire MP about new regulation for private parking firms, the RAC also says more needs to be done to help drivers.

    Last month Sir Greg Knight put forward a new bill which aims to regulate private parking companies by introducing a legally binding code of practice.

    The RAC says it's joining the campaign and that drivers they spoke to are sick of what they describe as unfair practices.

    Pete Williams from the organisation is hopeful Sir Greg's proposals will become law.
