    Brian Blessed has been confirmed as one of the stars of the first East Riding Film Festival in the new year.

    He'll give a talk in Bridlington on 2 February.

    As well as an illustrious acting career Brian is also a notable explorer, being the oldest man ever to visit the North Pole. He's also made three attempts on Mount Everest.

    It took Jarrod Bowen just 62 minutes of Hull City's opening game to hit his target for the season.

    Given the 20-year-old is already up to four goals for the campaign, form which has seen him win the EFL's Young Player of the Month award for August, you would be surprised if there was not a further revision of his target pretty soon.

    He scored his first goal at Villa Park and for a family of Aston Villa fans it was an unforgettable moment.

    North Lincolnshire Council wants to improve the markets as part of a £60m investment in the town.

    But plans to move stalls outside while the work is carried out aren't popular with some traders.

    The town will host a major national energy conference this morning.

    An art exhibition showing people's experience of dyslexia is to go on show in Hull next month as part of City of Culture 2017.

    Hull photographic artist Miranda Harr interviewed people from across the UK, including ex-football manager Sam Allardyce, BBC antiques expert Jonty Hearnden and soprano Anna Devin.

    From these interviews she created images to represent each person's experience with the condition.

    The Dyslexia Portrait, external runs from 2 October to 11 November at the Brynmor Jones Library at the University of Hull.

  19. Watch: GPs welcome review into MIU proposed closurespublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Plans to make changes to minor injuries units (MIU) in East Yorkshire are to be reviewed.

    In March, East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group announced it would shut the unit at Hornsea Cottage Hospital and downgrade the units at Driffield and Withernsea.

    Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has announced he's referring the proposals to an independent panel of experts.

    The panel will examine whether the changes would deprive people in parts of East Yorkshire of adequate healthcare.

    Withernsea-based GP Robert Blackbourn is a spokesman for doctors in South Holderness and he gave this reaction to the news:
