    Quote Message

It is vital that job losses at Brough do not take this site below the critical size needed to ensure its ongoing viability. I have been given reassurances in the past by BAE that the company's intention for Brough is to create a stable and viable workforce that is not over reliant on Hawk contracts alone, and I hope that BAE will continue to support this aim in the future.

David Davis, MP for Haltemprice and Howden

Mr Davis says he will be speaking to ministers about the proposed redundancies later today.

The inscription is from the stern of a boat which was incorporated into a house in Norway about 70 years ago, but was only recently rediscovered by Kari Christensen during renovations of her family-built home:

It's emerged that the stern was part of a trawler built in Plymouth by W.F. Moore in 1874 by instruction of a Joseph Wilkinson of Hull.

It was later sold on to a George Middleton of Levington Street, Grimsby in 1884, and now Ms Christensen says she'd like to find out more about its origins.
