A man has been arrested after police forced entry to a home on Bransholme in Hull following a stand-off which lasted several hours.

They had responded to reports that a man was inside with a bladed weapon and there was a child in the house.

The area around Haydock Garth was cordoned off with armed officers surrounding the house.

Humberside Police says attempts were made to negotiate with the man. A young child found at the address is now with relatives.
